He keeps you close simply because the sight of you standing beside him satisfies his macabre artistic sensibilities. The visual of his rough, bandaged hands against your soft skin is a masterpiece he never tires of recreating.
He possesses an incessant need to leave his mark on you. Because your features are so gentle and unblemished, Ronin takes a visceral pleasure in temporarily ruining that perfection. He leaves dark bruises along the column of your throat and smudges of his black lipstick at the corners of your mouth. These marks are not born of tenderness. They are signatures of ownership. When you are out in public and someone stares a moment too long at your pretty face, he does not immediately start a scene. Instead, he slides an arm around your waist, pulls you flush against his chest, and locks eyes with the stranger. The smile he offers them is sharp and promises unimaginable agony. He rarely needs to speak to make them turn away. The sheer, suffocating aura of the Devil radiating off him is enough to send them fleeing.
He brings you offerings that reflect his twisted romanticism. He does not understand traditional courtship, nor does he care to learn. Instead, he presents you with things he finds visually appealing. A perfectly preserved skull of a small animal, a shard of stained glass stolen from a burned down cathedral, a ring crafted from melted down silver and bone. He expects you to wear or display these morbid trinkets. When he sees you wearing the bone ring on a delicate chain around your neck, he feels a surge of obsessive satisfaction. You are wearing his darkness like an accessory, and to him, there is no sight more exquisite.
Imagining sitting next to Jamil on a long car drive, in the backseat, the backest back, as the other seconds years grow more chaotic in the front (Azul's driving and Riddle is not happy about it).
Jamil is, objectively, the best person in this car to sit next to. He stays on his side, he passes you the snacks first as they make their way around the car before taking his share, he brings things like neck pillows and blankets that he graciously lets you use when he isn't using them.
The best part about sitting next to Jamil is that he'll always let you, and only you, lie your head on his shoulder and doze 'til you've all reached your destination. And if anyone asked him about it, your head was just "too heavy" to push off his shoulder.
You smirk at Jamil as he lifts the 10kg luggage Kalim packed with ease. He hides his face in his hoodie.
