There's just something about half of their faces being in shadows when Buck comes out to Eddie.

Visually, the shadows are on the same side of our screen, almost like they are hiding the same thing. But in reality, the shadows are coming from different light sources. What are you both hiding from each other?

the thing about the shooting is, eddie only survived because buck was there. and like, well. none of them actually needed to be there. they weren't technically on shift yet and it was another house's call. but eddie was involved, and if eddie is involved the 118 is involved. if eddie is involved buck is involved. and, look. any one of the firefighters that were there, on shift, could have done what buck did in terms of tending to the gunshot wound, keeping him alive. it's what they're trained for. but only buck, ONLY EVAN "BUCK" BUCKLEY could crawl and drag himself over the gravel underneath that engine and drag eddie out of there with one fucking hand. only buck could fight for him like that. only buck is the reason eddie didn't die on the street. buck was there. and that saved eddie's life. "no one will ever fight for my son as hard as you" is true, completely. but it's also "no one will ever fight for me as hard as you". like, in both the tsunami and the shooting buck couldn't do anything to prevent it, but what he could do and what he DID DO, was fight like hell for them both.

More semi-ranting based on stuff I run into across multiple social platforms:

I would like to kindly request a particular subset of Bucktommy fans to refrain from conflating Buck's personal journey with the development of Bucktommy as a relationship.

Buck coming out to his sister and his best friend is about him, not whatever man he happens to be dating. The fact that you can replace Tommy's name in the scenes with any other man's name (except Eddie's, for fairly obvious reasons) and they fulfill the same purpose is indicative of this. He could be talking about the 45 year old real estate agent from Seattle named Phil and it would not change the fact that the scenes are built to demonstrate the support of the people he trusts most and his journey of self-love and acceptance.

Tevan couldn't exist without Buck's bisexuality arc, it's true. But Buck's bisexuality arc could and would absolutely exist without Tevan. The two are not inseperable.

The short season compressed the relationship arc and the personal arc, but that doesn't mean they became one arc. Don't devalue the importance of Buck's journey by framing it as only existing to service the ship.

This one has the rest of the season 7 data, some corrected stuff and some added statistics for everyone because we all love statistics (I did this instead of revising for my actual statistics exam but if the a level paper is 9-1-1 based I will be all set). 9-1-1 would fumble so hard!

We keep saying that Buddie would be the best gay slowburn in TV history but like thinking about it deeper. They really would be.

Oliver said that it’s possible Buck had some sort of feelings for Eddie when they first met ‘whatta man’ but is possible he didn’t understand them so he felt jealous by Eddie. Which they could easily connect to the recent events of feeling jealous in regard to him and Tommy as his feelings for EDDIE whilst connecting his feelings of misplacement. His misplaced feelings for Eddie being projected onto Taylor when she kissed him after Eddie was shot; misplaced feelings for Eddie projected onto Lucy during Eddie’s dispatch era and then misplacing feelings onto Tommy because he was the one to kiss him in confusion over Eddie’s attention.

All of Eddie’s relationships have ended on the advice of Buck. Buck asks Eddie if Chistopher loving Ana was enough to stay with her, they break up (which was very gay). Eddie wants to breakup with Marisol, Buck talks about Tommy and tells Eddie to ‘take is own advice’ and moves her out but stays with her. Buck talks some sense into Eddie about Kim, he tells her the truth.

They could use Mitchell and Thomas during ‘Buck, Actually’ and say it was a foreshadow. (idec what that ship tries to connect). It was an old couple who made memories and spend a whole lifetime together to eventually die together. Buck and Eddie have six years of memories together. The idea of ‘you don’t find it son, you make it’ both Buck and Eddie have been looking for something they think they are missing, with Buck’s constant cycle (which imo is still happening) and Eddie looking for another parental figure for his son. It’s been established that Eddie trusts no one more than Buck with Chris to the point Buck is in his will as his legal guardian and he heavily relies on Buck to talk to Chris about things etc — he is a coparent. The reason that Eddie is struggling with his relationships is because he’s found everything he needs in Buck and has for years, you could say the idealized version of Shannon he’s projecting is HIS feelings for Buck and he is confusing it with her because there is a lot of parallels between Buck and Shannon as another connection. Put all of it together and they have made it. They are FINDING something without realising they have subconsiously MADE IT with eachother. Thomas saying they only ever wanted to die together because that’s love, Eddie was right there with Buck after the couple died together but Buck and Eddie are firefighters who are partnered up on calls - there is always a huge possibility of them dying together, like that moment Eddie got hit by the lightening or when Buck was almost shot by the sniper whilst also risking their lives to try and save the other. Mitchell and Thomas made a commitment to eachother for life, Buck and Eddie made a commitment to eachother in regards to Christopher - a literal child, but also the commitment of always having eachothers backs. The old couples love was unbreakable. Buddie is the same - ‘There is no competition for Eddie…I love you to the core’

If Buddie are never and were never meant to be together why does the whole six seasons of Buddie’s existence make sense and connect together so easily? The show truely would fumble so hard.

I cannot get over the way Buck rushes forward to hug Bobby in the last scene of season seven, then looks back at everyone else with an expression shouting "Guys! Look! My DAD is here!" like Bobby pushed back a business trip so he could come watch Buck play Third Tree From The Left in the Second Grade School Play.
