Some controversial thoughts about anton and spence? And the handling of family dynamics as a father / spouse? TW domestic abuse and rape
So I don't see Spencer as a hitter. Just at all. He's not predisposed to violence and he's not sadistic whatsoever and he gains no joy in the concept of hurting someone. He may be gleeful if something bad happens to someone he doesn't like, but he doesn't want to be the cause, and he'll feel guilty for thinking this way even as he tells himself yk its gods will that the sinner gets punished. Ect.
So that's doubly true for his romantic relationships and for his kids. He certainly struggles enough with his morals when conning kids and parents I don't know that he could handle striking a child. ("Spamton attempts to kill a child?" Yeah as a last resort. As a last resort to live there's nothing Spamton won't do, but the same is true of Spencer. I'm talking about when there's NOT a gun to his head). Sexy stuff aside he will also not slap his partner around, and even with the sexy stuff there's plenty he's uncomfortable with ahaha. But! Ofc he will fuck them over in other ways. Steal from em, lie to em, cheat on em, abandon em… he just doesn't want to be the one holding the knife. Even as resentment boils, once again, it's as a last resort that he has to act in violence. And he'll make it quick, right, he isn't trying to draw out the murder of whoever he's not a torturer type. He's running from the mob or something ok he has to be willing to take a life.
Anton meanwhile. Is… a sadist. He's sadistic, and although he would really prefer whoever he's being sadistic to enjoy it as a people pleaser and hedonist he also quite enjoys violence as a tool even if I would not describe him as specifically violent when not stressed. But he will enact violence, in anger, and as a retributive measure.
He's a pretty big guy. Even in human aus he like has giantism okay he's huge. And he's muscular and fat and burly and broad shouldered. For the most part he prefers to posture the violence, if being silly and joking doesn't work. The implication (bc of the implication...) is really what he prefers to use over immediately jumping to physical aggression. Unless you've specifically hit one of his beserk buttons. Implying his family doesn't care for him (er. Sort of true. Sorry) implying he is only successful because of the connections he's made and not his own talent and so on.
For instance. He knocks out Spencer's tooth one time after they both go on a bender. They both wake up in a fancy hotel suite in different rooms and Anton proceeds to freak out. Bc he participated in an orgy but he can't find any condoms in the trash, and he can't remember if he used them. (He finds out later that he DID in fact use them, but the maid already came in when they were both naked and cleaned up. Probably not the first time the maid at a high end hotel saw a bunch of naked men post orgy but anyway,)
Spencer ah. Mocks him. He's hungover and feeling brave from all the success and he's sick of how Anton always derides him for his OCD symptoms, yet when Anton acts manic it's 'reasonable'. So Spencer is like I'm not sure why you're so worried. You've probably already got aids. You started sleeping with guys at thirteen, right? Spencer knows this bc. Well. He sneaks into Anton's office and reads through a bunch of old diaries Anton kept to detail his time away from his family. Including the sexual abuse he went through with teachers, that he refuses to admit was abuse because he 'enjoyed it'. Being spanked or molested.
This is an insane thing for Spencer to say to a survivor I realize. But you have to understand. Anton really does torture this man. Too much work endless backhanded compliments insults about his appearance and his personality painful workout regimes… Anton has slept with plenty of people Spencer cares for and ignored Spencer's complaints. Obviously Addie can make his own choices and Spencer should be talking this through with Addie, but it's the WAY Anton probably went about it yk? Laughing in his face and stuff. Nothing wrong with an open relationship or sleeping with a friend but don't be unnecessarily cruel about it, Anton.
So it wasn't a nice thing to say, and I'm not making excuses. Just… elaborating on the 'why'. But Anton also, didn't have to um proceed to punch him. Hard. Remember Anton is huge and Spencer is not. So to punch him full weight. Tooth go bye? Goodbye tooth + broken jaw for month. And broken ribs bc when Spencer hit the hotel floor Anton kicked his stomach several times. Anton feels, sheepish when he discovers the maid thing and that he flipped out for no reason so he offers to bye Spencer a new tooth. Which Spencer bitterly declines bc hes A BIGSHOT he can pay for his own damn tooth. Gold like Anton's. These two ripping each other off and copying each other… like how later Anton claims Spencer copied the always wearing glasses thing from him like BITCH!!! HE GAVE *YOU* A PAIR OF AVIATORS!!! YOU'RE BOTH STUPID you're allowed to take inspo from each other. You can admit you're both creatives and inspired. Jesus Christ.
I do think it would hurt Spence to sell his tooth bc it was one of the first really fancy luxurious things he bought for himself. With his own money. But that's unrelated ANYWAY.
All this to say. Anton. Is willing to do corporal punishment. He won't enjoy it, striking his kids, but he's conservative in this way. He was sent to a boarding school for troubled kids, you know. The teachers hit the students there all the time. Learned behavior. AND HE TURNED OUT FINE. This is how you learn. Wizard lightning = he's getting the belt. But he won't enjoy it, and he won't hate it either. It's just something he has to do.
And I don't think. He would HIT his spouse or partner. But he would physically abuse them, even if he doesn't admit it. Shake them. Throw them around. Drag them by the wrist or hair. Jerk their jaw in his fingers so they look at him and not another man. Leave bruises on them. Tie them up, and of course rape— regardless of how 'gentle' he is or how 'good' he makes it for them.
