Both the twins had so many thoughts pop into their heads as they watched the stranger emerge from the portal. Dipper was curious yet also cautious: Where did the portal come from? Is it dangerous? Is this guy human or does he only appear as human? Even if he looked harmless, it didn’t mean he actually was — Dipper had learned that firsthand from their adventures over the years. Before he could warn his sister to keep her guard up though, she was reaching out to shake the stranger’s hand and introducing both of them. “Mabel!” Dipper protested as he side-eyed his twin, who name dropped them both before they even knew it was safe to do so. Sure, Dipper was just as intrigued, but he didn’t want them to end up in any sort of danger. How could they be sure they could trust this guy?
Morty couldn’t help but feel a sense of familiarity from these two, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Had he visited this dimension before? The name didn’t seem familiar to him though; if anything, Destiny Isle sounded kinda corny, fictional even. Still, he shook Mabel’s hand as Dipper eyed him carefully. “Destiny Isle…” Morty repeated, pulling his hand away from hers to put his portal gun away in his backpack. He didn’t know who Grunkle Stan was or what the mystery shack could be, but he was grateful they weren’t far from a motel. Hopefully this dimension didn’t have any strange form of currency. “Thanks. Can you show me the way? I-I'd like to learn more about this place before sticking around, if you could help me out,” Morty admitted. He needed to know more about where he was to truly decide if this was the right place to stay or not, and it seemed like these two could potentially be helpful.
Dipper pursed his lips, finally dropping his arm from in front of Mabel. What did this Morty guy want to know? There was only one way to find out, even if it meant putting some trust into this stranger and spending more time with him. On the bright side, it also meant having time to ask this guy everything he and Mabel were eager to learn about, specifically the portal and where he came from. How did it work?! Dipper glanced at Mabel before he gave in, the benefits outweighing the cons. “… I guess we could,” he answered, playing it off as if he wasn’t ready to ask a million questions and intrigued to learn more about him. “But only if you answer some questions we have.” Morty didn’t really have anything to hide, shrugging as he began following the siblings.
