Aquired photoshop and the retina support patch!
I miss my collection of fonts.
10/10 great use of retina display
Day 2 continued.
Got bored, googled what I could do with my new macbook. Found an article saying how Apple dumbed down the display options, which they did, but I kept switching between the reccomended retina one which is kinda big and the spacey one which was kinda small. Currently running the inbetween one.
Day two of owning a Mac.
Aquired a background, it's only 1920x1080 rather than the native 2560x1600.
Still pretty though. Eventually I'll find a proper background. Only bug so far is that some icons don't support this resolution and are very upscaled. Cough cough Steam.
What is this blog.
Finished college, working part time in an outdoor shop, sort of enjoying doing nothing. Well, working then doing whatever I want. I bought a tablet with the money I've earned too. This was an attempt at getting used to doing stuff on a tablet then stuff appearing on the screen. It's a joke too.
Sheep. Dat bad looping!
Continuation of paperwork. More dicussion on how the game will play, regarding lives and how much damage enemies will do.
We presented our game with this presentation, we didn't need or have to include super serious information like budgets and schedules, just to pitch the game and explain our idea.
We presented the idea and our teacher suggested we make a "demo" version of the idea we had instead to make it fit within the project's timescale which we agreed with. He also suggested we make a physical copy of the game (on a disk or something) and designing a magazine cover for it to be shipped with.
Doing mock ups is fun!
Mock up for a new logo/icon.
You can sort of see what I’m going for, you know. Making a MC block a fox with the tail and ears. I like the font (Code Light), it looks pretty clean and naice.
You can pretty easily see the different colours on the cube, this could easily splash colours into the logo making. Not sure yet though.
^ Copy pasta from the original post on VixenCraft.
I haven't been doing much recently, playing Minecraft with friends and posting screenshots on my personal blog.
Here's one my friend posted on Reddit which got on the front page. Hah.
I won't bother tagging this as I already posted it.
Long time no update!
I've been lost in BF3 and other video games and chocolate.
I decided to try and inject some colour into my logo thingy, I think the second is better by a few light years. The edges should be rounded off though. Some gradients tweaked as well to add some variation.
Using Minecraft I managed to plan the layout of my house, while not really 'effective' it did help me picture it.
I found the "make outlines" option and fiddled with some text. I've had the cog idea for a few days now for a friend's company, thingee. I really should get around to designing his site.
New banner I made for my server, me gusta.
New assignment
We have been given the brief to make our dream houses in 3DS max.
Right away I decided I'm going to do an apartment and give it a Mirror's Edge theme. (A lot of white and high contrasting colours).
I'm a little worried about making things to scale but hey it should be fun!
I made a vector cog!
For some reason I had been thinking of this all day and I finally decided to actually make it. I took awhile to eventually figure out using the blend tool wasn't going to work so well as I had hoped, simply rotating and duplicating worked well though!
Doing this sort of reminded me when I started my interactive media course we had to do some design lessons, in which I learned Ctrl + D was duplicate last action. I think... it worked anyway!
In today's lesson we were introduced to the 'Lathe' tool and 'Splines' within 3DS Max, from doing so we drew the outlines of half a fruit then using the lathe tool by moving the axis horizontally.
Using the same technique you can easily make vases or similar items. This shall prove useful in the next assignment which is to make a full house (furnished).
To make the above images I first started with a rectangle then used the 'Bend' tool to change the angle, then I cloned/copied it several times and rotated them into the X formation. Then grouping them I applied textures and experimented. I also used planes for walls/flooring, two of the walls are mirrors, two are glossy black and the floor is birch planks. I then positioned a light within the X. Making for an interesting lamp.
If I could I'd like to change the X so it's one shape because currently you can see a square in the middle where the different shapes are. It would look much better if it was all one, flowing piece.
