how did u work on ur self confidence? my body and i don't have a good relationship n i normally only see thin ppl in the Tumblr/p*rn environment unless it's a fat fetishist n i am struggling with my body image quite a bit

Well really first you have to stop relying on outside influences to validate or represent you. Cause like you said society does basically nothing for us. I got fed up of looking for representation and decided I’m going to represent myself regardless of what other people thought. I had a shit relationship with my body until I decided I was gonna bust my ass to change the way I thought.

A great way to begin this transition is “fake it till you make it” My brain literally got use to hearing how beautiful/sexy/smart/brave I was and it like kinda reprograms your thoughts.

Find people who inspire you and let their energy motivate yourself to keep at it. People think it happens over night but it can take years to undo the trauma and damage you’ve gone through. Be patient with yourself because you deserve to love yourself.

Familiarize yourself with your body. Regardless about what you hate about yourself. The more you see your body the more y ou familiarize yourself seeing the things you may not like. But yknow how you can listen to a song and HATE at first, but the more you listen to it the more you find things you like? Same with your body. I hated seeing my body but my fiance likes asshole pics of me so I’ve have to desensitize myself from every inch of me, literally lol. Do I advise you to look at your own butthole?…. YES ABSOLUTELY!

It’s going to be hard sometimes and it’s not going to feel good. I use to be so anxious wearing crop tops out in public and yes I got those “wtf is she wearing” looks. I thought, ‘is this fucking worth it?’ Why was I making my anxiety a thousand times worse just to wear a crop top? And it’s cause I want to wear WHATEVER I WANT WHENEVER I WANT. And we all deserve that. Fat people showing skin, thin people covering up, boys in dresses and so on. Eventually you stop caring about the reactions.

A great way to stay motivated is that by you deciding you want to have a positive relationship with your mind and body, you’re also giving a big ol’FUCK YOU to everyone who decided you weren’t worth celebrating and representing. There’s space for everyone.

Millions of people can find me disgusting but if I think I’m genuinely beautiful then it’s not going to affect me cause I know my worth. And by me deciding I’m beautiful has had a ripple effect to others. I can’t believe I genuinely help others by simply creating space for myself at the table. So I’m convinced every other person has the ability to inspire others.
