Hiatus Extension

[Figured I should put this up here, even though it’s already been a while. While I love Bree and all the threads I have going for her, I have found myself with less and less time for rp-ing. There are many factors in my real life that affect this and they are either too personal or too lengthy to put into words here. Please continue to bear with me as I drag myself through this hiatus. I truly appreciate those of you who are sticking it out with me and Bree. *hugs all around!* It really does mean a lot to us. <3 I WILL be back to rp-ing before we know it, though, promise.]

[I'll have them up either tomorrow or the next morning! Fingers crossed that it works out as planned. There's a possibility that I'll be getting a new job this Saturday, and I've been prepping for that with my application, along with tidying up my resume and doing any last-minute research. I'm nervous and excited all at once, and this has been a very long week for me so far. So, please bear with me as I freak out and try to keep a positive mindset for Saturday. x) ]

“Well, as soon as possible would be nice but how about I give you my card and you can call me when you have him? It’s really no big deal, whenever.” Stephanie hands him her card and smiles. “It’s nice to meet you Murphy, I’m Stephanie.”

He nods once, a small smile brightening his features for a moment as he slips her card into his wallet and shakes her hand firmly. "Likewise, Stephanie. Gotta tell yah, they gave you a helluva target tah track down--almost as big of a pain in the arse as me brother 'n I." Murphy smirks faintly, only half-joking.

In her mind the Macmanus boys were heros, setting the world right. Just like Robin Hood. She knew that a lot of people didn’t agree with what they did but how could they not? They lived in a safer world thanks to these boys. And the scum that they got rid of weren’t people who deserved to live. Still, Beth found herself wondering if it changed them. Killing people was not just a walk in the park, she knew that she couldn’t do it. 

“Well I’m still breathin’, ain’t I? I’d say that makes you a pretty good teacher.” In truth, Beth had just been more careful. She didn’t go anywhere alone and she didn’t drink to excess. Small and slight, she knew she made an easy target. She looked over at him, concern evident in her eyes. She always worried that one day he wouldn’t come back. “Me? Of course. M’the good one, remember?” She finished her drink in one long gulp, before looking up at him. “Jimmy and I broke up but I got into college. So things have been interestin’. Mostly I’ve just been here, hopin’ you weren’t dead.”

Murphy ran in his thumb back and forth along the rim of his glass as he contemplated her response. He wasn't good with emotions or trying to console people, having always learned to exude a hardened exterior. In truth, Murphy didn't know how to feel about Beth's breakup, but what made it easier was his realization that she hadn't had any trouble admitting it. Maybe that meant it wasn't too hard on her? Either way, Murphy felt the need to try to make her feel better, just in case.

"If yah need me 'n Connor tah teach that boy a lesson, just say the word," he replied with a small smile and a raised eyebrow, revealing an underlying hint of seriousness in his joke. If this ex-boyfriend had harmed her in any way, the MacManus brothers would not hesitate in enacting revenge. Beth had found a soft spot in their hearts, and they had taken her under their wings, so to speak. It was because she was one of the good ones that they made conscious efforts to ensure her safety. Mess with the Saints' friends, and you'll regret it.

"The only way I'd be dead is if I were trapped in a lecture hall. Can you imagine me tryin' tah take chemistry notes?" Murphy joked, but he wondered for a moment what life would have been like, if he and his brother had had the opportunity to apply for a higher education. He figured he never would have been able to sit still and concentrate, especially not with Connor distracting him in classes. Murphy brought his thoughts away from imagined scenarios and leaned one elbow on the bar, turning slightly to face Beth. "So what college is it?--Next round's on me, just so yah know. Need tah celebrate!"

Beth shook her head at the fuss, a smile on her lips. She had never known any two men who were as well liked as the Macmanus brothers. It made sense though. They were simply good people. And those were hard to find. Their unwavering charisma helped too. But it wasn’t that for Beth. She owed Murphy. He’d put himself in danger to save her from a drunken, handsy man in the alleyway one night. He didn’t have to do it, most would have walked away but he marched right on up and saved Beth’s skin. She didn’t know what would have happened to her if he hadn’t. “I took some tips from you. I think I’m a little better at handlin’ myself these days. Where have you been anyways? It’s been a while.”

The condensation on the glass had lingered, so Murphy figured it hadn’t been too long since Beth had ordered it. He raised it to his lips and took a long pull of the drink, licking above his top lip as he lowered it to the bar with an abrupt clack. Lord knew he needed that. One of the bartenders Doc had hired slid a bowl of peanuts over to Murphy, and he stopped it with his hand before placing it in between them.

“Hm. Guess I’m a better teacher than I thought.“ He crunched on a few peanuts before adding in a low voice, “Been across town tha past few days. Had business with a couple ‘o mob boys who thought holdin’ innocent people hostage was an appropriate way tah make deals.” Murphy shook his head with a frown. “Connor ‘n I set ‘em straight the only way we know how. Of course, their lackeys wanted blood, so we had tah lay low for a time. Just another day at tha office, really.” Murphy glanced over at Beth as he rubbed his eye. “What about you? Been stayin’ outta trouble?”

            Entering the bar, Beth took a seat on her usual stool and ordered her usual two drinks. She always ordered two and placed one beside her. Some nights he didn’t show up but she always liked to have a a drink waitin’ in case he did. He’d saved her life once, she was sure of it, and she owed him. Hearing the door open behind her, she knew it was him based on the accompanying noise. She turned, a grin on her face. “Good to see ya. Got you the usual.”

With a chuckle, Murphy slipped away from the hands which slapped his back enthusiastically and reached the young woman before any more patrons bombarded him with their greetings. He and his brother were practically celebrities at McGinty's, whether or not they liked it. The Irishman was pleased to know that Beth never gave up on him joining her, even if it was only for a drink. His 'job' called for him at any given moment, and anyone else would have gotten fed up with him being a no-show time and again. Murphy slid onto a seat beside his friend and sighed heavily. "Thanks. Good tah know you're still in one piece since I last saw yah."

Bobby barely flinched at the macManus brothers’ entrance, he was used to getting interrupted and having guns pulled on him.  But his prey was distracted for a moment and Bobby struck. The first slice took out the tendon of the knife hand,

The blow that followed shattered the arm and the Demon screamed, his voice sounding like a young man.

“Please, I didn’t do it, I didn’t.” 

The younger man, a lackey to the crime boss that lay dead on the floor fell to his knees, playing for the saints, hoping they would stop Bobby.  But before anyone could respond bobby batted the good hand away and sunk the blade, to the hilt in the younger man’s chest with at.  “Shut up.”

It was too late to save the young man. The twins did not hesitate for a second before they sprinted across the short space between themselves and the killer. He had not had the authority to take an innocent life. Of course, the Saints automatically assumed that the dead kid was not a part of the mob leader's activities. He could simply have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, with his cabin being broken into and a stranger murdering him. However, this was only based on guesses. Connor and Murphy had dozens of questions to ask, and they struggled against their instinct to shoot first.

The brothers rammed into the man with the ball cap and shoved him against the nearest wall between them. Silenced pistols were prodded against the man's ribs on both sides.

"Who the hell are yah?" Murphy demanded, just as Connor followed up with, "What the fock do yah think you're doin'?!"

[castiel cocked her head, watching as he rushed around hurriedly. she was calm, and her voice was soft as he seemed to panic. ]

 The kit slipped out of his hands as he stood to move back to her side. He fumbled with the container and crouched to replace its contents. It was not the murder part that worried him; rather, it was Cas' calm demeanor that confused him and made him wonder if she had suffered a heavy blow to the head.

"Have yah lost it, Castiel? Look at the state of yah! Supernatural or not, we need to fix yah up."

~ Update ~

[To those I owe replies, I'm working on them right now. Just jumping back and forth between this blog and my lxnewanderer blog to draft things. I have a valid excuse for unintentionally neglecting my rp blogs! I've essentially been living in two houses at once, so moving back and forth for a few days at a time--along with a bunch of other chaos--throws my schedule off and makes it difficult to find time to rp properly. I don't want to give you guys half-assed replies. I need to take my time with them. But I'm settled down for now, so I've got the time to write with y'all. Thanks for bearing with me and not pushing me to rush! Murph 'n I really appreciate it.]

Charlie heard them arguing at the opening of the alley, covering her ears and trying not to cry as they started forward. The noise they were making was suppose to draw her out; kicking over garbage cans and calling her name like a dog. She supposed she was, that’s what their boss called her. The stray with no pedigree. That was what made the brunette break out a week ago, staying just ahead of her captors until she couldn’t run anymore. They called again, jeering as Charlie pressed tighter to the alley wall. Their footsteps drew closer and closer until they stopped in front of her, causing Charlie to look up and cry out softly. “Please don’t take me back to him, he will lock me away for good… I don’t want to go back…” She tears up and jerks back when tattoos reached for her arm. “Don’t touch me!” The heel of her hand flies past his defense and breaks his nose with a crunch.

Murphy made it to the opening of the alley just as they found her. Her words were faint, making it difficult to discern what she said, but he could just make out the fear in them. He didn't need to know what these two men had done in the past; all he knew was that it was clear they were making the girl's life hell. That was enough to justify his next actions. Without hesitating, Murphy moved when Charlie did, grabbing an empty wine bottle near the trash cans and stepping forward to break it over the head of the one with tattoos. The bastard stumbled to his knees, clutching his broken nose and bleeding head. He lost his balance and cracked his skull on the concrete, his curses and agonized cries silenced. Murphy had already moved on to the second thug, dodging a few angry punches before sending his own uppercut. His fist connected hard with the man's jaw, loosening teeth and sending him backwards several steps. This one didn't go down as easily as that Rosie woman at the meat factory. Murphy didn't miss a beat as he football tackled the man around the middle and sent them both crashing to the ground. The Irishman slammed his fist repeatedly into the guy's pierced face, bones crunching under the force he exerted.

Murphy withdrew his pistol, forcing the dazed man to his knees and standing behind him. He raised his weapon and held it to the back of the man's skull as he recited his family's prayer, ending it in Latin. One silenced bullet embedded itself into the thug's skull. Murphy turned to fire another bullet into the back of the unconscious man's head, effectively terminating the danger to Charlie.

“Are you Murphy MacManus?” Stepanie asks and looks at him. “You are listed as one of the contacts and he has skipped bail. Is there any way you could get in touch with him and tell him I am looking for him? I just need to take him down to the station and get a new court date approved… His name is… Romeo? He just missed his court date is all.”

Murphy sighs softly and scratches his head for a moment. "Aye, I am. That gobshite still doesn't understand the concept of pickin' ones battles," he shakes his head and rolls his neck, cracking it. It looks bad on the Saints if their sidekick makes a run for it, and Murphy can't wait to hear what Romeo's excuse will be for this. It had better be a good one. "How soon do yah need 'im?"

The MacManus brothers pulled up to the abandoned, ramshackle cabin in their "borrowed" car.

"Place looks quiet," Connor murmured as they observed from across the street.

"Aye...give it time," Murphy replied, not believing for a second that their target would go quietly. The lack of streetlights obscured them for the most part, but it was also difficult to see movement near the small cabin in the middle of the night.

"What d'yah t'ink, Murph? Our boy's decided on a sudden campin' escapade?" Connor ran a thumb under his chin in thought. Usually, their targets ran to guarded safe houses in the city, places where there was less of a chance of being killed by the Saints.

Murphy shrugged one shoulder. "Maybe we should go ask 'im." The twins exited the car and followed the line of trees before breaking paths. Murphy crept up the porch steps to the front entrance, while Connor stalked around to the back. The muffled sounds of a skirmish drifted from within, and Murphy checked his pistols one more time before slamming the door open. He was expecting to find Connor incapacitating their target, but what greeted him instead was the body of their target, bloodied and crumpled in the corner. Two men were locked in combat, neither of them familiar to Murphy. Connor burst in from the back entrance a moment later and the twins aimed their weapons at the two men, unsure who to take out.

On the bright side, at least she had the energy to correct him. His immediate instinct was to pull Castiel inside, ignoring the bright red smears left on the door and on his shirt. He guided her to a solitary, worn couch and ran to grab his hunter’s first aid kit from under the kitchen sink.

“What the fock ‘appened to yah?!” he demanded with a hurried glance at her over his shoulder, bewildered.
