Boomba Shack’s Full Moon Party – West End, Tortola, BVI
If the British Virgin Islands is on your list of places to go, then you may have heard of the Boomba Shack Full Moon Parties. If you haven’t, listen up!
A few of us snuck out of our hotel rooms around 11:30pm, hitched a ride with a local and headed up the coast to Boomba’s Shack on West End, Tortola. Even though we had an extremely long day of shooting, it was a full moon, and this was a once in a trip opportunity that we weren’t going to miss.Â
Upon arrival, the scene immediately took me back to Saturday nights on Belle Isle in Detroit – a street celebration flooded with happy, slightly tipsy locals where a mash up of songs from various car stereos serve as the soundtrack.
First stop, the bar, where they were selling drink tickets for regular cocktails and unlimited Shroom Tea. Yes, unlimited hallucinogenic mushroom infused tea for only $10.  So of course we tried it…. and happy to say we survived it. Considering we had been up since our 5am call time, I really can’t tell you if the effects I felt were from the mushrooms or from running on almost 24 hours of no sleep.
Don’t worry, nothing got too crazy. We spent the rest of the night vibing out to everything from reggae to classic Michael Jackson as the waves from the ocean crashed in the background.
It was a perfect night. Well worth the mere 4 hours of sleep that followed before it was back to work the next day.Â
