To all you little shits who wanna drag Macklemore through the dirt, watch this video. If y’all had enough time to watch the Banks interview, watch his interview. Watch Macklemore discuss white privilege and acknowledge it. Watch him discuss police brutality. Watch him acknowledge as to why is it white people are okay with buying their kids his album despite the parental advisory sticker. Watch him not drag Iggy or Banks’ name and talent in the dirt, but praise Banks on the truth she speaks. Watch him acknowledge that he fucked up when he instagramed his text to Kendrick Lamar. Watch as he discusses how the voting process at the Grammy’s is actually messed up. Watch him discuss that he was underground for 8yrs before he became a hit. Watch him fucking admit the hip hop industry is not his to take, and that he knows his place in the hip hop world.

I love Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for what they speak, and not because they’re white. By that logic I should techinically only be supporting Latino/Latina/Mexican/Chicano/Chicana artists because I’m Mexican. What he raps about I support I can relate to. I’ve never heard Banks’ music I’ll admit, but I know I won’t relate to Iggy’s music either. I usually don’t go out defending celebrities because they really don’t need little ol me doing it, but I know this is a serious topic in the hip hop industry and I just want to put in my two cents. For me, rap is still poetry and is still protest music when done right.
