Speaking in West Bank settlement, Israeli PM, who is fighting for political survival before elections, says ‘we are squeezing Hamas’
Benjamin Netanyahu has said he has given orders to the Israeli army to seize control of 70% of the Gaza Strip in a move that threatens to torpedo an already fragile ceasefire and create catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the already devastated territory. Under the US-brokered ceasefire in October, the Israeli army withdrew to a demarcation line which gave Israel direct control of 53% of the occupied territory. Since then, Israeli forces have steadily advanced their positions westward into the Hamas-controlled half of the strip, and declared an ever-expanded no man’s land west of that, within which they claim the right to decide who can enter and open fire on anyone perceived as a threat. In recent days, Israeli-backed armed militias have taken a leading role in emptying the territory along the ceasefire line, telling residents to vacate their homes or shelters. Throughout the eight months of the ceasefire, Israeli forces have continued to open fire on Palestinians within range of the “yellow line” splitting the strip, and carry out airstrikes deeper inside western Gaza, killing more than 900 Palestinians since the truce began.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled off was convincing the world that the United States has ever been the land of the free. Unless by free you mean only certain priveleged groups deserve and can expect to have justice, agency, opportunity, and the protection of the law.
From the start...
It wasn't free if you were indigenous or an indentured servant or Catholic or an enslaved African or a woman. If you were in the Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts your only freedom was to follow the Puritan Elders extreme version of Calvinism.
After that it wasn't free if you were a loyalist or laborer or tenant farmer or craftsman. It wasn't free if you were French or Spanish. It wasn't free if you were indigenous even if you were the Cherokee and far more 'civilized' than the white trash around you. It wasn't free if you were Mexican and living in the parts of Mexico that the United States decided to take.
The southern states were so determined to prevent the country from having freedom as a core value that they started a war over it. The hypocrisy of calling it a war over 'states rights' when the south bullied the government into denying northern states the right to abolish all slavery within their own boundaries.
It wasn't free under Jim Crow and racist terrorism and the KKK and white supremacy and an insistence that the US was a WASP nation. It wasn't free if you were an immigrant (desperately needed to expand and develop the country). It was not free if you were Chinese or Irish or Jewish or Italian. It wasn't free if you were indigenous or a woman or anything but Protestant.
It wasn't free in the early 20th century if you were black or biracial or Latino or a poor white. It wasn't free if you were gay. It wasn't free if you were a child working in the mines and mills and factories. It wasn't free if you were indigenous or a woman. It wasn't free if you were black and joined the military to serve your nation in either World War. You weren't allowed to fight, were given no respect, and returned home to the exact same racism.
It has never been free or fair for minorities. It has never truly renounced slavery and genocide and refuses the very notion of reparations. There is always a new group to target. A new scapegoat to distract from the iniquities enshrined within the system. The largest prison population in the world is here. For profit prisons are here. Racial profiling is here. You have no right to food, shelter, education, healthcare. You have the right to wage slavery and a lifetime of debt.
Women do not have bodily autonomy. People do not have the right to self-identify. If your notion of freedom includes conformity, compliance, submission, and acceptance of mandatory patriotism and a morality dictated by a minority? Than yes. The United States is very free.
Freedom here means the acceptance and celebration of greed. It means being allowed the illusion that, if things are alright for you, then there are no real problems. Look at our courts. Our legal system. Our broken and boughten political system. This a police state, a rogue nation flouting international law, a country where sedition is patriotism and extrajudicial murders and mass shootings are justified and normalized.
Do you really think these minor little choices we are allowed represent freedom? Stop following the rules. Stop paying your bills. Stop working. See how far your 'freedom' gets you.

It's interesting, having a local backup of my blog, because sometimes I'll click on a post in the backup in order to see it on Tumblr proper, only to found out that the post has been deleted despite me never having deleted that post myself. Normally, when someone's blog is terminated, posts that other people have reblogged from them stay up and you just can't go to the original blog anymore. However, it's become obvious that sometimes, for reasons Tumblr has never fully elaborated, certain posts will be deleted along with all reblogs of that post.
On a totally unrelated note, check out this article:

I'm surprised I haven't seen much about this on the IRGC fan side of Tumblr, but there was recently a "daughters devoted to Iran" rally in Tehran, and there is a lot of really cool and aesthetic photos from it <З
Occasionally forget people genuinely think capitalism is thousands of years old
One time I was talking about Robin Hood with some coworkers and one guy was like “he was bad because the people he helped learned to expect handouts” and I wanted to be like… okay can you explain how that flawed capitalist propaganda applies to feudalism
reminder that capitalism was literally invented in the 16th century
That’s an exaggeration. What was invented in the 16th century was mercantilism. Capitalism really dates for the beginning of the nineteenth century, with the rise of industry and cash crops over artisans and merchants. Vulture capitalism, with the notion that companies have no duties other than generating profit, is even younger.
Capitalism is only 200 years old and I have to say, they have not been an impressive 200 years
I think a lot of this comes from the fact that most people don’t know the formal definition of capitalism. We all know the word, we’ve all seen the jokes, but very few people bother to actually define it unless they’re talking about political theory and philosophy, so it’s easy to end up with the impression that Capitalism = Money Can Be Exchanged For Goods And Services.
Capitalism is the economic system where most of the means of production (i.e. everything people need to have to make the stuff that everyone wants) are owned by private individuals or corporations, who then hire people to provide the labor necessary to produce things, with the intent of selling the output at a profit. It’s the difference between “you’re a carpenter and you make a chair and you sell it” and “you’re Richard Q. Richington who owns a chair factory, and you pay people to sell the chairs you paid other people to make and then all the excess money goes back to you.” There have been Richard Q. Richingtons on and off throughout history, but that being the norm for every single industry is a pretty recent development.
An alarming amount of people seem to think capitalism = all trade, and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
Then DO IT. Typical yanks, complain and do nothing.
