Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice
Review: Understandably, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice had mixed reviews. The scene changes were rough, the dream sequences confusing, and the plot buried beneath shots of brooding and overuse of slow motion gimmicks. Any anticipation for future DC movies would have been totally ruined if not for the saving grace of Batman. To be honest, when I first heard that Ben Affleck was to adorn the cowl, I wasn’t too enthused. While some scenes were a bit hit-and-miss, I’m quite happy to say that I was very, very wrong. Affleck brought back a Batman that I had sorely missed. One that was reminiscent of everything I loved about the original animated series. He was a smooth lady killer, an ardent detective, and he cut a terrifying figure when confronting criminals. Add to this, a terrific banter between Bruce Wayne and Alfred (Jeremy Irons), and I can attest that Ben Affleck is the greatest Batman that I have seen to date. It’s not enough to justify the lack of character development for Superman and Wonder Woman, nor for the anticlimactic battle scene (which Doomsday was wasted on), but as an introductory movie, it wasn’t terrible. I’m looking forward to a sequel that will satisfy the burning need for a DC movie to rival Marvel. Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, gets 6/10 popcorn kernels from me.
