kind of funny how shackleton's first book is titled with so much drama and pizzazz, "the heart of the antarctic" oooh thats so intriguing and kind of epic ooh and then when he finally gets his epic journey where they almost die 10000x and survive but god at what cost, his narrative of the whole thing is simply titled "south"

i recommend everyone check out this amazing document on the tozer family! it's well sourced and great! if you want to read more about the queer tozer sibling, scroll to the bottom of the page and read the section about charles wilson! that was the name solomon tozer's sibling lived under for more than 50 years, and also got married under, multiple times. we can not know if c. tozer identified as a queer woman or a trans man, since such terms didn't exist back then, but what we can do is recognise the history and chosen name of a person who did live as a man for the majority of his life, and celebrate the queer individuals that came before us.
