I absolutely love scary monster stories, and listen to them a lot, but most of all i like pale crawler ones. Something abt em are so interesting (can you tell my favorite cryptid is a rake did you know that its so hard to tell right🫩)

Among the stupid copy paste, over the top violent, shock value podcasts that i listen to when drawing, there was one story in particular that i loved.

A man and his daugter have to live with some relatives in Louisiana, and while there there, it floods. All of the marshland creatures are out and about until their home recovers, and the man notices something. His neighbors dog goes missing. Then her second one.

After a while, he sees a greyhound. Its skinny and very pale, so He feeds it, but it wanders away.

A few more days, he can hear something on his roof. He can see it. The greyhound, but much more lanky and humanlike. It doesnt do any harm, it just sits and stares into the distance. The man is spooked, but gets used to it. He even gave it more food.

After a week, the floods recede, and the creature leaves. No harm, (other than the dogs 😔), no gore or carnage, just a misplaced monster.

Every now and again, even though they aren’t real, they’re just animals. And are probably more scared than you’d think.

In homage to the story i painted it.

(i never found it again, i KNOW its on the darkness prevails youtube channel somewhere but i cant find it 🥀)
