WHAT COULD THE POOR WOMAN DO, WITH FIVE CHILDREN IN HER ARMS, AFTER THE DEATH OF HER HUSBAND, AND WITH TWO FAMILIES IN FRANCE ATTEMPTING TO ENCROACH ON THE CROWN? WAS SHE NOT FORCED TO PLAY STRANGE PARTS TO DECEIVE THE ONE AND OTHER AND YET, AS SHE DID, TO PROTECT HER CHILDREN, WHO REIGNED IN SUCCESSION BY THE WISDOM OF A WOMAN SO ABLE? I WONDER THAT SHE DID NOT DO WORSE!

Very tempted to archive and start fresh. Give this a like if you’d follow me.

Catherine’s wrists are slender and delicate-looking, a complement to her hands. She broke her left one once falling from a horse and thereafter suffered arthritis in it, which tends to act up during cold, wet weather.
closeup headcanons. for extremely specific headcanons. send me a body part from the list below and i’ll give you details on it: how it looks, how my muse feels about it, what difference it makes for my muse’s life, is it sensitive, how intimate my muse feels contact with it, if my muse decorates it or takes care of it any particular way, how well it works, has it sustained any injuries, anything of the sort. potentially nsfw ones are marked with *

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa to all! I’ve spent the past two days with family, but I still have another week off work so I hope to be productive in the coming days.
Merry Christmas from the favorite daughter in law!
“Merry Christmas, my dear Elizabeth,” Catherine replied with warmth, kissing the queen on both cheeks.
Send in 🎁 + an item to give my muse a Christmas present!
Merry Christmas from the heathen Catherine to the pope relative Catherine.
Catherine certainly doesn’t consider Cate a heathen. In fact, she was so lax when it came to matters of religion that the Huguenots at one time thought there was a chance of her converting. Her clinging to Catholicism is more related to her attachment to all things traditional than any strong beliefs. The fact that Elizabeth I was a Protestant certainly didn’t rule her out as the bride of choice for Catherine’s sons and that I think speaks volumes. She also married her youngest daughter to the Protestant prince of Navarre in hopes of smoothing things over between the warring factions. Of course that didn’t go as planned, but that’s for another tangent.
What does palle mean?
Loosely translated it means “balls” and is a reference to the balls on the Medici coat of arms:
According to Christopher Hibbert, the balls themselves “represented pills or cupping-glasses, the Medici-as their name suggested-having originally been doctors or apothecaries.”
It's been a long day so my apologies if this makes little to no sense. Do you think all the children had parts of Catherine or is there one that stands out to be the most like her? Also hi there needs to be a Hercule needs a hug club
Catherine hates me for saying it, but Margot is probably the most like her, which is why they didn’t get along. She’s the only one of the children to inherit both her mother’s robust health and her wily, cunning streak.
At 4:22 in the morning Catherine demands I amend this by saying that while they may share some traits, the real reason the didn’t get along Margot was always out for herself while Catherine looked at the larger picture.
mcnsieur:
@madameserpent is the best mom
And Phillipe is the best son.
This is your reminder that Catherine outlived all but two of her ten children, and one of them only by eight months. A mother’s worst nightmare, yo.
