Sabine couldn’t help but wince, arms buckling slightly as the (what she considered) larger than necessary needles pierced the area of trauma. But quickly enough, the pain had subsided and she could watch Jade’s work with no feeling. Sure, it’d hurt like hell later and it’d be a bitch to shower, but at least for now Sabine could watch delicate fingers slide stitches through her flesh. She swallowed the painkiller, finally looking away from the finished product on her abdomen. “Hey- if you’re hurting, let’s figure that out yeah?” It was impossible for Moran to stay upset with Jade. Now that she knew it hadn’t been a plot on her life- there was nothing to be angry for. “But I accept your apology. On the same hand- thanks for fixing me up. I’m just glad it didn’t pierce the body wall.” Hopping from the counter- she could still feel the residues of blunt trauma along her ribcage. She’d taken a fall when first hit, twelve feet down from her position. With a small wince, she shuffled back towards a chair, taking her seat in it while watching Jade clean. “Next time let me take a look at your intelligence yeah? Two eyes are better than one.”
“Of course, we’ll figure it out.” Jade nodded curtly, remembering to never mention her headaches again. She didn’t want to worry Sabine and she felt as if she was doing just that with the comments about it.
“As for the wounds, of course they didn’t pierce your skin much more than superficially.They’re lousy shots.” She smirked and and nodded about Sabine helping with their intelligence. “Right. You are military trained after all, I see no problem in you taking a look at my information. But I do have final words on it, understand?”
Jade glanced over at Sabine and paused. “I’m glad you’re home. While you didn’t escape unscathed, I am glad you’re not in a body bag. I would’ve never forgiven myself for such an idiotic mistake on my end.”
She turned on her heal and went to her room to change for the night, When she returned, she pour a glass of scotch for the both of them, handing the extra to Sabine with a smile. “You deserve it.”
Jade thought she knew everything she needed to know. The usual–the target, the people who’d back them up, the amount of surveillance needed to back Sabine up. She thought she had everything in her Arsenal but she had this feeling of overwhelming…doubt–that she had missed something.
Her fears were confirmed when Sabine walked in bloody.
Jade stood with a grimace of annoyance spread across her face. “Damn.” She paused for a moment, walking into the kitchen and grabbing one of the black hand towels from the counter and pressed it to the wound.
“I could have sworn I had everything. I could have sworn I had the right information and I double checked and triple checked and I just…damn..” She spoke at a thousand miles an hour trying to pour her thoughts out coherently but it didn’t seem to stop Sabine from being pissed with Jade.
It obviously wasn’t enough. But Jade didn’t make mistakes. This was a fact that Sabine lived by- so it had to have been on purpose. But soon enough, Jade’s seemingly worried babbling had her believing otherwise. Nonetheless, it was too late. The bullets had torn flesh, thankfully superficially. “They fucking surrounded me-” She grit her teeth as the added pressure sent spikes of pain up her side to nestle between her ribs- pointed fingers trying to finally drag her down. With a few settling breaths, she relaxed her muscles, moving herself to take a seat on the counter. It’d be the best way for Jade to access the wound. “I- just stop. I don’t want to hear it.” Her tone was no longer blaming and angry, but instead tired and understanding as the cortisol and epinephrine levels in her body began to level out. “Just grab the med kit, alright?”
Jade didn't say another word as she looked up and grabbed the med kit from the hall closet. The glasses that had been pushed on top of Jade's head now rested on the bridge of her nose. She carefully put open the shirt surrounding the wounds and sighed as she pushed up her sleeves. Thank god for her medical degree.
She pulled on gloves, used the last of the numbing agent she had in her syringes and started to check for any bullet fragments with a flashlight in her mouth. She hummed to get her mind calm enough to not hear the buzzing in her brain, and it worked. She managed to clean and stitch Sabine with ease and gave a painkiller to Sabine after she was cleaned.
"I'm...I'm sorry. I'm slipping. My head's been hurting lately. That's no excuse though. I apologize sincerely, Sabine." Jade pulled off the gloves and threw them away, cleaning up the area and blood on the counter.

1. Seven months, two days since employment. An opera. Sabine is there beside Jade, strong legs in a short dress, black Louboutins pressed expertly against the floor. She leaves for half an hour, returning only after wiping blood from the patent leather of her shoes, a smirk on her face. She leans to confirm the job done and Jade captures her lips as well as quells the gulf in her chest she’d always flirted with.
2. Eight months, twenty four days. Sabine’s not thinking, she’s late. Rushing around the flat, she grabs her keys and a scarf- heading towards the door. She pauses to give Jade a quick kiss as though it was normal occurrence. It takes only a moment for her to realise the mistake, turning back to her employer, expecting chastisement but only earning yet another, deeper connection. She’s later than expected. 3. Seventeen months.. They’re comfortable now. Nights will be spend in the other’s bed- Jade never sleeping and Sabine always waking alone. For once, Sabine wakes first. Before sliding out of bed, she leans to press a soft kiss to Jade’s lips, Jade stirring only momentarily. Sabine sincerely smiles for the first time in ages.
4. Twenty-six months. Sabine has convinced Jade to slow down for once in her life. It’s a calm night in- takeaway ordered and films on the television. Jade’s head is nestled gently on Sabine’s shoulder. Pressing a kiss to the top of Jade’s head, Sab’s suprised to find her lover turning her head back up, catching Sabine once more. They lose track of the film.
5. Years pass, hearts break. Sabine’s standing alone in the cemetery, standing at the stone where she’d made sure to put Jade’s body. God- Holmes was just supposed to die- not Jade too. Kneeling down, she presses a hand to the cold stone, swearing revenge before her lips touch the cold stone. She’s broken.
