Hello tumblr, it’s been a while.
My nostalgia for stencil making but inability to spray paint has gotten me into stamp and print making. I started with carving erasers, like the fish seen above, and this maneki neko is my first large stamp at just under 5x7″. I left some colored prints in the reception lobby of UNMH Cancer Center and a stack of uncolored prints at Deep Space Coffee.
Yesterday was magical.
So I started going to this high school. I’ve been pretending to be a teacher for a couple weeks now. I’ve been convincing enough they gave me a badge, and I think they may even pay me eventually.
i.e. I got a job as a high school science teacher.
Remember that potential big announcement I mentioned a while back? This is it. I got a new job. I teach science to teenagers now. Madejyalearn will be where I post about that stuff. (I’m still not sure on that name though.)
I know I haven't been around in a while. As of today it looks like some pretty big plans are most likely going to happen, which means I'll be around even less if at all. Not announcing yet, but I'm excited.
Bloom and Fade I
From top to bottom: Gunpowder green with ginger, lemongrass, and mint Rooibos with lapsang shouchong and clove Chamomile with rose petals and lavender blossoms
Most ingredients are from New Mexico Tea Company or my own garden, blended by myself.
Here’s a quick something that was literally ripped off from directly inspired by donhertzfeldt‘s The End of the World and made with garbage within arm’s reach the finest materials available.
Happy Easter everyone!
I went to find my posts with film photos and realized I didn’t have any.
These are all several years old, taken on a Nikon FM2 with expired Kodak Elite Chrome film.
Such a sleepy cozy evening.
Took this a month or so ago. This and a few other photos I've gone through lately have made me realize I should start varying my height more in composition. I'm pleased with the blue/orange contrast though.
Birdfriend's back for the spring.
The moon, Venus, and Mars, seen through a thin layer of cloud.
Venus and Mars are in line with each other and us, making the brighter of the two dots. It may be hard to tell in the image, but with binoculars I could see it's more of an 8 shape than a circle. The dimmer dot would be a particularly bright star.
I've seen some inspiring dual exposures lately.
The best camera is the one you have with you.
You can't tell because of the auto white balance, but everything was a different shade of purple. It was ridiculously violet out, it could be considered a weather.
"What's the forecast this evening?" "Violet with a chance of magenta."
Things gone to seed
I know I haven't had much on here lately, but today I'm participating in Hourly Comic Day over on my other blog if you'd like to check it out. I'm tagging them as #hourly comics.
Installed RawTherapee on my desktop, which is currently running Linux as an OS, so I can edit photos on the computer with a calibrated monitor. What a concept. This is my first time using it, and there's a lot to get used to. There are quite a few sliders that don't seem to do anything, and on my laptop this photo looks, well, dim.
Any pointers would be great.
