Her dad was a dick and her mom is...mostly okay but still doesn't listen to her nearly enough and could have done a MUCH better job when Rebecca was a child. Yes Rebecca does do very well for herself, but she really fucking needs a constant external support structure (especially since the end of season three kinda removed a very reliable one) and giving her a new parent would help her so much. She's had to deal with so much bullshit and pressure (mostly from her shithead ex-husband but also just a lot of people in general) and deserves to be taken care of for once.
