“It’s not... That bad. I mean, it could have been two pages long instead of just one.”

“Tea seems to be the most favoured drink here, though I will never understand it. I prefer much stronger drinks, perhaps,” she admitted. Astrid laughed at the comment about her being sweet, and finishes one coffee before moving onto the next. “I do not find myself to be sweet, merely kind as any being should be. My family may be rash and quite blunt at times, but they have taught me many things on decency and common courtesy.”
“Different people, different tastes.” She smiles and shrugs, taking a drink from her mug as she listens to Astrid continue to talk. “As far as I’m concerned, even caring about decency and common courtesy scores you major points on the sweetness scale. And offering your drink isn’t only kind, because it’s generous, too. Either way, sweet or not, it’s always good to meet a new friend. Who is your family?”

malina couldn’t help the thirst to use her power. she’d only arrived hours earlier, bringing all of her things along with her and placing them into her dorm. but only when it was time to unpack had she allowed herself to use them, sending all of her things flying this way and that to where she wanted them to be. she could feel another’s presence and she turned her head quickly to see them at the doorway, all her things still in the air as she made them rearrange themselves. “were you wanting something?” she questioned, her russian accent present in her words.
Mae leans against the doorway, staring at the items suspended in midair with a tilt of her head. She almost laughs at the sight, entertained by the unexpected sight. “I was going around the hall asking girls if they’d like to come watch some movies in my dorm tonight. But now I’m going to tell you two other things, too. One is that we’re not supposed to use magic outside of the class. Two is that if you do use it, you might want to shut the door.” Is that a bad thing to say when you’re a good kid? “Oh, wait. A third just came to me. If you need help unpacking without the powers, I’d be happy to help.”

“Compared to you being stuck in the infirmary? That sounds like paradise. But what are we hungry for? I’m feeling pasta in any form.”
“I walked into the shower with my socks on this morning. I didn’t notice until halfway through. That says it all, really.”
“Once, I completely forgot to take off anything! I just stood there, fully clothed and half asleep, for five minutes until I moved on accident and my sandals squeaked loud enough to wake me up.”

“Yeah, tears tend to do that. Get in your eyes, I mean. You wanna talk about it?”
“That is so kind of you, but worry not, if you dislike the drink it is no insult to me for you to decline. I was merely offering as I had another, but I can also drink it myself. You are very sweet, and thus it is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Astrid Thorsdottir.”
Mae doesn’t expect to laugh the way she does, as she’s caught off-guard by the fact that this girl, Astrid, is so.. Polite. She grins at the brunette’s words, shaking her head. “The pleasure is all mine, Astrid. You are very sweet as well.” She responds, picking her mug up from off the counter top. “I might not enjoy coffee, but their tea is pretty good.”
“Me too. I’d love to spend time with you but can we actually do something? I’m tired of sitting on my butt all day long.”
“Oh fine, if we have to.” She teases, laughing by the end of her sentence. “I guess since it’s your ‘welcome back to the world’ party, we can go out and do things. So what do you want to do first?”
“It’s so good to be back! I mean it was very fun doing nothing at the infirmary but I’m a really restless person, I needed to walk around.”
“Well I’m glad that you’re not in the infirmary doing nothing anymore, because now you and I can do nothing together!”
“My father has spoken highly of this coffee drink, now I see the truth to his words. I have another, if you might join me.”
“I’ve never been a big fan of coffee, but I can’t let you and your father down. It would just be rude.”
‘ just emote right onto the canvas ! — ’ rapunzel encouraged, dancing around a vibrantly decorated classroom to see the process behind each and every one of her students’ easels. ‘ the most beautiful art is the art that’s the image of the artist. paint what makes you happy, what makes you feel — ’ while rapunzel was usually forced to follow a more strict curriculum than just feeling, she figured recent events called for a more relaxed lesson.
Mae sighs, dropping her paintbrush back into it’s water as she stares at the blank canvas with disappointment. How is she so bad at knowing what she feels? Is it possible to feel nothing? Defeated and tired of trying, she raises her hand in shame. “But, ma’am.. What if I don’t know what makes me feel? I don’t even know what I’m having for lunch.” It felt ridiculous to say out loud that she can’t quite feel something (much less anything important enough to become art), but it’s too obvious by her “painting” for her to defend herself.
“It does put a damper on my time in Auradon, not being trusted as one of the ‘people from the Isle’. But I should have expected something like this to happen eventually I suppose.”
“No one should have to prepare to be distrusted, in my opinion. Auradon let you all in, and when they did it served as a promise to treat you like you’ve always been here. Not like you’re criminals. I don’t know. It just feels like they’re not really being the good guys right now.”
“ i don’t know… i hoped it would. they’re not that different from us. the adults don’t get that, i think. “
“I think they don’t want to admit that it’s a possibility that there’s some flaw to their system. That it’s possible for kids raised to be good can turn out badly, and vice versa.”
“Strawberry!–Well, I’m pretty sure. Could have been raspberry though.”
“So I’m looking for a jar of mystery flavored jam that was possibly stolen during the fire. Got it.”
‘ even i know that’s just not gonna happen. they’ve already segregated them, nothing GOOD can come out of that. ’
“Not come out of it, really, just.. Happen in spite of it. As a sign that things can go back to normal soon.”
