Namjoon and Jin were supposed to only get Jungkook from the orphanage, but they fell in love with the other four boys as well. All of them deserved a happy home and Jin and Namjoon’s heart would break if one was left behind, causing five adoption documents to be signed that day.

‘Come on, baby boy, let’s go get your brothers!’ Jin put baby Jungkook in his car seat as he flailed his legs around. Screaming happily he was awarded with a kiss on the forehead by his father. Adoptive father, to be exact. Jin and Namjoon had adopted Jungkook along with four other energetic toddlers: two from Busan, two from Daegu and one from Gwangju. Adoption had never been a question for Jin and Namjoon, but they certainly hadn’t thought they would end up with five boys in their household.
They were supposed to only get Jungkook from the orphanage nearby, but at the meetup day, they fell in love with the other four boys as well. All of them deserved a happy and loving home and Jin and Namjoon’s heart would break if one was left behind, causing five adoption documents to be signed that day.
‘Baaa!’ Little Jungkook yelled from his seat as Jin parked the car. The kindergarten was only a five minute drive, but enough for Jin to prepare himself for the chaotic evening to come. Although it had now almost been a year since the adoption and the lives of the boys got more and more structured and comfortable, some things still required lots and lots of patience. It was hard to spend an evening without any drama or conflicts, because the boys all had such different personalities.
Baby Jungkook was, although he was only seventeen months, very dependent and slept well for almost the whole night, which was a big relieve to both Jin and Namjoon.
The second youngest were Jimin and Taehyung, both four years old, but they had also developed some sort of interest and emotional pattern. Taehyung’s love for art showed itself more and more every day and he was always painting, drawing or colouring. Jimin was a very, very sensitive boy who cried at the slightest cut or raised voice, but he was so incredibly sweet.
The second oldest was Hoseok and he was, in comparison to his other brothers, very energetic. He loved playing sports, most of all dancing, and when he wasn’t talking loudly about who knows what, he was running or jumping his ass off.
Yoongi was the oldest boy, at the age of six, and he was the one Jin and Namjoon worried most about. He was quiet, reserved and somewhat shy, which didn’t really match his brother’s pronounced personalities. But he could get crazy with them from time to time as well and he showed his love through unexpected hugs and kisses.
Despite all of their differences though, they were the happy family Jin and Namjoon had always dreamed of and they wouldn’t trade it for the world.
‘Come here, you!’ Jin took Jungkook in his arms as he made a silly face, earning a playful slap on the cheek from the one-year-old. ‘Dada!’ Jin heard Hoseok’s cute voice from the playground as he waved to him. Lots of parents were standing at the gate already, some throwing Jin an amused look, knowing he had to come and pick up four children instead of the usual one or two. Jin first saw Hoseok, who was excitedly playing rock, paper, scissors with another little boy, but he didn’t know any of the rules and just decided he had won the whole time.
Yoongi had arrived on the playground a minute or two before that and was calmly waiting for the bell to ring, sitting by himself on the ground. Jin sighed as he saw Yoongi had probably not had a lot of interaction with others that day either. It was something the teacher had pointed out a few times and Jin hadn’t thought it was that noticeable, but lately these situations had started happening more often. Yoongi was the only boy who had had trouble with the adoption, already being five years old at the time. Namjoon and Jin didn’t really know what happened to him before that, but they knew it wasn’t anything good.
The bell finally rang and the parents were allowed onto the playground. Hoseok immediately came running up to Jin and hugged his leg tightly as he started mumbling various incoherent phrases. ‘Hey, little guy! How was school today?’ Jin could only understand something about a bear and a washing machine and he petted Hoseok’s little brown-haired head. Yoongi also ran up to Jin, only to hide from the other children behind his leg. ‘Yoongi-boo, how was school?’ ‘Fun.’ Yoongi said. Jin furrowed his brows as he wasn’t too convinced by his oldest.
‘Waaaaaa!’ ‘Oh come on, again?’ Jin breathed out heavily as he heard Jimin’s little cry coming from the hallway. ‘Dada!’ A hysterically crying Jimin ran up to Jin and snorted into his jeans. He was followed by a slowly walking and pouting Taehyung, who had clearly done something wrong. ‘Hey, little guy, what happened to you?’ Jin rubbed little Jimin’s back as the tears continued to stream down his face. Jimin let out another scream as an answer. ‘Use your words, big guy.’ ‘Taetae…bad!’ ‘No!’ Taehyung screamed back.

‘I’m home!’ Namjoon shouted as the door fell into its lock. ‘We’re in the living room!’ Jin replied as he gave Hoseok a box of crayons. ‘Now spend some time drawing as dada cooks, okay?’ ‘Draw!’ Hoseok said, immediately took a blue crayon and started colouring the dining table. ‘On paper, please!’ Jin laughed. ‘Papa!’ Hoseok and Taehyung ran to Namjoon and jumped in his arms as it rained kisses on his face. ‘Hey, cuties! I see you’re colouring so well!’ ‘I got red!’ Taehyung proudly showed Namjoon the red crayon in his hand. ‘I see. Pretty, huh?’ Namjoon tickled Taehyung’s tummy.
‘Please don’t encourage them to draw on the table, Joonie!’ Jin yelled from the kitchen as he fried some vegetables in a pan. Namjoon put Taehyung and Hoseok down again and went to the kitchen. Back hugging Jin, he placed a sweet kiss on his neck. ‘Hey sweetie.’ Jin stopped for a moment, closing his eyes as he pecked Namjoon on the lips. ‘How was your day?’ ‘Good. Busy. Ready to wind down with my boys.’ Namjoon smiled.
‘Papa? You learn Yoongi piano?’ Yoongi went to sit down at the dinner table, asking Namjoon a question as if he were a teen already. ‘You want me to teach you piano?’ Yoongi nodded. ‘Of course, Yoongi-boo. Right after dinner, okay?’ The rest of the boys also sat down at the table as Jin brought a few pots and pans from the kitchen. Jungkook, who had just woken up from his nap, yawned his little mouth wide open and made grabby hands to the food. ‘Taetae, you coming?’ Namjoon asked in a stern voice, since it was the third time he had called the boy to the table. ‘Is done!’ Taehyung happily yelled and brought a drawing of –what seemed like- a fish to his fathers. ‘Oh baby, how beautiful. We’ll put it with… the rest.’ Jin looked at the kitchen wall anxiously, realizing it was already full with Taehyung’s drawings and there wasn’t a single free spot left. Namjoon chuckled as Taehyung proudly sat down next to Yoongi.
‘This boy’s drawings.’ Jin grinned to Namjoon as he showed him Taehyungs masterpiece. ‘It’s actually pretty good for his age.’ Namjoon said, feeding Jungkook another spoon of food. ‘At school, there’s a fish in the class!’ Hobi started talking out of nowhere. ‘No, fishies live in water, not in class!’ Yoongi shook his head. ‘No, in water, in class.’ Hoseok tried to explain before his talking was abruptly cut off by Jungkook spitting his food back out. All of the boys started laughing and Taehyung stood up to clean his brother’s mouth. Taehyung loved Jungkook so much, he was always the first to help his little brother out.

‘Put on your pj’s, Yoongi. I’ve asked you already.’ Jin sat on the bathroom floor, undressing the boys and putting them in their pyjama’s. ‘Dada…’ Jimin’s quiet voice sounded sad and Jin stopped halfway through helping Yoongi in his pants. ‘Yes, baby?’ ‘Mina kick Minnie today.’ Jimin stared at his feet as Jin’s heart burst at how adorable his little boy was. ‘Why did she do that?’ ‘Because she’s not friendly. I made her drawing and she BAM broke it.’ A small tear formed in Jimin’s eye as Jin wrapped him in his arms. ‘Oh Minnie, tell the teacher next time. She will help you. You don’t just let other kids kick you and not say anything.’ Jin showered Jimin with kisses. ‘My sensitive little guy. You’re too good for this world, baby.’
‘Hoseok, oh my god!’ Jin sighed tiredly as he saw his second oldest had left his bed again. ‘You’re going to stay in your bed, young man!’ ‘But I’m thirsty.’ ‘You can’t be thirsty six times in a row, Hoseok.’ Namjoon pointed towards the hallway again and little Hobi laughed loudly. ‘I’m not sleepy?’ He tried, but Jin picked him up and put him into his bed again. ‘Sleep!’ Jin tried to stay serious, although he just wanted to laugh along with his son.
‘Gosh!’ Jin collapsed tiredly onto the couch as Namjoon grinned next to him. ‘They’re a challenge, aren’t they?’ Namjoon wrapped his arm around Jin as he turned on the television. Jin had just snuggled up next to his man, when he saw someone out of the corner of his eye. ‘Yoongi-boo, I can see you standing there.’ Little Yoongi looked at his fathers as he approached them carefully, not making a single sound on his warm fuzzy socks. Jin and Namjoon looked at each other, surprised, as Yoongi laid down on his father’s lap, without saying a word. ‘Awww!’ Namjoon said inaudibly as he saw Yoongi closing his eyes. It was the rarity of moments like this that made them so precious. Yoongi wasn’t a child to show his affection at all, but when he did, it hit his fathers like a tornado. Jin brushed Yoongi’s hair with his hands as the boy started sucking on his thumb automatically.
‘You want me to get the wine?’ Namjoon whispered and Jin nodded profusely. But when he returned, Jin had fallen asleep, Yoongi cuddled in his arms tightly. Namjoon smiled at the precious sight as he put a blanket over the two. Kissing Jin’s forehead softly, he whispered. ‘My beautiful boys.’
