How the Max map works in the space.
The bar is the gain of 4 microphones.
T the lower part of the screen, there are 4 filters to make the average number from the distance.

How the Max map works in the space.
The bar is the gain of 4 microphones.
T the lower part of the screen, there are 4 filters to make the average number from the distance.
Making the film. I use the sound recording from the space and also use it to watch the video. When the user using the space, what would it sound like? Or if other people invoved, what will it sounds like?
After hung up all the devices, I start to see up all the electronic devices. I first connect the arduino and microphone to test it. All of them works pretty well.
After Marguerite check with my devices, she suggest me to smoothing the data, because the data keep jumping and makes the sound suddenly louder. It's not good for experiencing sound.
So I found search on the website and found the solution. The data will take the average number to gain the volume smoothly.
The other two devices on the other side are not easy to hang on. I first cut the long wooden bar to two pieces( 2m and 1m), then place it above scaffolding poles. The hardest part is the drill on the ladder( to connect two wooden bars.
It's really dangerous. So I shouldn't do it alone. The technician helped me to fix three wooden bars above the poles. Then after that. I hung ttwo devices
Testing the Max map with the wireless speakers.
Normally it could only select one input in Max Msp.
But I found the solution, in the audio midi setting, it can create new input/output by choosing the input/output sources.
This solution still has one problem, it can’t adjust the volume separately.
Hanging the devices on the frames. The second frame took less time than I expect. After building the second frame. I start to put the spaces on the frame.
Bending to the limit for testing. In the end, the A shape guaranteed the best ability for bending.
Process of making frames, the wood bars are not straight, so this frame took a longer time for me to build it than I expect
Progress of building the rectangular space
The way I joint the triangle shape space is use the dovetail joint. After laser cutting the wood piceis, I have to grind every of them to make the angle of dovejoint
Using Nylon wires to fix the wood sheets. The wood sheets are difficult to fix by one people.
After last time the MDF boards were not working. I change the material to the Birch plywood. It's very flexible. I use the Nylon wires to do the stitching. It works really great but it took me a lot of time to build it.
Try to use the MDF board to build the cylinder space. But in the end, it broked twice. So I have to change the material.
Working progress
Testing different pattern on the wood sheet to have the best ability for bending
Assigned space- the space outside of the Kirk Lecture Theatre
There could put two scaffolding poles on the bar,
I could use that as the hanger for my devices
