“I don’t think you should try to be anything you’re not. If you’re not smiling all the time or always happy - I don’t think it matters. If you’re having bad day, show you’re having a bad day. Don’t try to put up something that’s fake.”

Training was one of Em’s favorite past times. She spun the sword in her right hand, and pulled it down. As she turned around with sword in hand, she nearly stabbed someone who had come in without her noticing. “Shit! Are you crazy, I could have run you through!”
Lena managed to take a step back just in time, the sword only a few inches away from her stomach. “I’m sorry!” She said quickly, putting her hands up. “I- well, I have a very light footsteps. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Artemis swallowed what she ad in her mouth and arched a brow at the young vampire. “You sure? You don’t have to,” the werewolf reassured her.
“No, it’s okay. I want to.” She gave a wide smile at the werewolf. Taking a plate from one of the cupboards, she put a small amount of stir fry on it and turned around to sit near Artemis. “How have you been?” Lena asked politely.
“If you want food, I made a big batch of stir fry. It’s in the pot on the stove, help yourself,” Artemis said to however walked into the kitchen without looking up from her food.
“Oh,” Lena said, looking over to the stove. The stir fry looked delicious and it must have tasted delicious too. “Maybe I will try it.” She had been eating food lately, or in her case, practicing to eat it without puking later.
Aileen listened to the music that was playing while others were dancing, drinking, talking or laughing and had a good time. As a complete normal person around those who had a higher reputation it wasn’t that hard to be invisible which was quite pleasant. Her dress was heavy yet she loved the fabric and the color, dark red. It was not the newest trend but still good enough to be worn.
Lena felt out of place in the palace. She had lost her friends in the festivities and with a huff, she stood to the side, beside a dark-haired girl who looked like around her age; if not, older. “Your dress is lovely.” She spoke. (Though the color did remind her of blood....but she pushed that thought out of her mind.)
Dimitri bowed slightly with a smile before asking “You are sure I cannot tempt you to dance?”
Lena stared at him shyly, “But I never danced before. I would be horrible.”
“Quite. Though it was to be expected. It was a big victory for the English, we must let them have their little moment.”
Lena nodded her head. “I hope England would live peacefully after this. No more...invasions.”
Gerard found himself smirking at the goings on around him, the relief of the win carefully hidden under laughter, dancing and insults of Spanish incompetence. Still it was quite the win, he had to give credit where it was due. The vampire was pulled out of his thoughts by a nearby voice, turning he faced the speaker saying “Excuse me? I didn’t quite hear you.”
Lena looked at him, surprised etched on her face. She must have been talking out loud. “It’s all very grand, isn’t it?” She gestured to the whole room, making sure she kept her eyes open for Gwen that she had seemed to lost in the crowd.
Play nice. It had been a warning, disguised as a request, and Emma had no choice but the obliged. A turn of her wrist, and she would have probably heard her Cortana slicing through the air around her, had it not been for the sound of footsteps entering the training room. Letting out a deep sigh, she stretched her shoulders, not bothering to turn around. “I hope you aren’t expecting this to be easy, ‘cause you might have just found yourself the wrong person to be training with.”
“Are you....uh, talking to me?” Lena said, startled by her voice. She had planned to just throw a few knives, not to fight anyone with it. She looked around, there didn’t seem to be anyone else but the two of them and she couldn’t help but stare at her dumbfoundedly.
“Oh, often enough to be honest.“
“But you’re still here. Why?”
“A good side effect and a bad side effect. In the aftermath of disaster, the ability to move on is valuable. But numbness comes with its own set of horrors.”
“I can’t wait to be older then.” The sarcasm in her voice was strong as she stared down at the floor.
“I think everyone is on the same wavelength after everything that’s happened.recently. I don;t usually take time to myself, too much of a workaholic but I think I need to.”
“A little time to yourself wouldn’t hurt, really. Though I wish there was something to do around here. To keep my mind off things, you know?”
“You’re talking to one and being sucked into this isn’t as nice either.“ Ally said, not sure what else to say.
“You never had thoughts to leave then?”
“They just served dinner downstairs. I don’t know the exact time. You might be able to catch some if you hurry.”
“Dinner?” She furrowed her eyebrows, she must have been reading for two hours. “Oh, it’s okay. I’m not hungry.”
“You didn’t look to comfortable, a chair would probably be better,” Artemis nodded with a smile. “I’ll join you for a while, I felt like curling up by the fire for a moment. Not feeling like doing much today.”
“Yeah.” She nodded, agreeing with the werewolf. “Oh, I understand. I always get that feeling.”
Freyja nodded. “That’s all any of us could do.” She nodded. “Yes, of course. Unfortunately, since I’ve become somewhat accustomed to battles and bloodshed. An unavoidable side effect of age, I suppose.”
“But it’s a good side effect, right?”
Askatla had been on her way to her room, when she noticed the girl quickly gathering her things. She could tell the girl was a vampire and was turned young, like her. Askatla’s heart contracted in her chest knowing that the vampire had gone through the same agony as her. “Oh don’t worry about it, go ahead and sit back down if you’d like. I’m just passing through.”
“I have to get back to my room anyway.” She wasn’t going there to sleep, that’s for sure. ”Do you, uh, by any chance, know what time is it?” Reading always made her lost track of time.
