The unlocked and ajar front door to Vilindrel hall was her first clue that something was amiss. Argis had been off visiting a friend in Karthwasten and she knew even when drunk he remembered to close the door properly.
The second clue was the blood on the door handle and the trail of droplets across the stone floor, heading in the direction of the bedrooms. Items littered the floor here and there as if the intruder had been staggering and stumbling into things.
Third was Aeliths first aid box being open on the table, bloodstained rags piled on the table, noting her suture kit had been used and several linen bandages were missing. At least she’d stand a chance if they were injured.
Her hand hovers near her blade as she follows the trail of whoever it is, curiosity rising as she nears her room, the door like the front one slightly ajar, a small vulpine head rising from the foot of the bedrooms to peer at her, Aeliths shoulders relaxing a little, clearly Breaca knew the person slumped in the bed or the little fox would have been around her legs, a small red ball of anxiety.
“Hey girl, we got a friend huh? Let’s see who we have crashed in my bed huh?”
Turning the gas lights on, the soft glow filling the room, Aelith sees long hair ginger spilling over her pillows, the battered form of Leondas sprawled on the soft mattress, bandages barely hanging on to what she thinks are still sluggishly oozing wounds.
Stepping forward she perches on the edge of the bed next to him, deciding it’s worth the risk of being bitten to wake him as gently as possible, fingers combing gently through his hair.
“Leo, come on, need you to wake up. Better let me check you over and heal what I can.”
