FAQ
What counts as a magical girl?
For this tournament, magical girl is used as a gender-neutral term. Characters don't have to be girls to count!
On the most basic level, a magical girl is a character who uses magic to solve problems, and who transforms or changes outfits while doing so.
Magical girl stories often feature a cute, girly aesthetic, episodic storytelling, and themes of friendship, love and selflessness.
What counts as a magical girl mascot?
Magical Girl Mascots are creatures that help a magical girl to do her job. They might allow her to transform, give her power-ups, or offer advice and information.
They are typically small and non-human (though they might transform into a larger/humanoid form). Human babies can also count, provided they have some kind of magical power.
They regularly accompany the magical girl, whether in her magical form, her everyday life, or both!
They do not have to have the girl's best interests at heart - evil characters are eligible provided they fit the other criteria.
Characters who fall into a grey area generally go through a preliminary poll where people can vote on if they should be included in the tournament.

Allagan Empire
They're an empire and not a character but I just really like to clown on them. Did empire things, performed unethical experiments on... everything, including gods, and a scientist revived one of their dead emperors at one point. Emperor communed with the void/demons, demons needed power to be able to maintain a connection to the world, allagan empire put an elder dragon in a moon to get more power, that was too MUCH power and caused an earthquake that destroyed the empire and caused a calamity. They put a dragon. In a moon. And that moon came crashing down centuries later. Like half the stuff in the game is their fault. Also they have a clown theater kid scientist.
We had a bracket for fictional actors, but what is an actor without something to act in?
The submissions will end in a week.
Rules:
You can submit as many media as you want, but don't submit the same media twice
Submitted media have to be fully fictional, you can't submit existing media, even if they also exist in a fictional universe
While they can't exist in real life, media inspired/referencing/parodying real world media are allowed, but they have to differ enough to count as their own thing.
Media portraying actual in-universe events are allowed, if they differ from the story they come from.
Don't submit fanart if there are official images available (if you have a piece of fanart fitting with the bracket, that you want people to see, you can DM/tag me and I will reblog it)
If there aren't any official images, you are only allowed to submit your own fanart. If you do that, give me some way to contact you (so I can check if it's actually your fanart and so I can credit you)

We have already done Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella, so it's time for the Little Mermaid! Submissions are open now until Friday, February 16th (though they may close earlier if there are many submissions). Please read the following rules before submitting:
Submit a character who is based on the character of "the Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen! Adaptations where the character is not portrayed as a mermaid are allowed, as long as the story is still explicitly based off the original story.
I will also be accepting characters "playing" the Little Mermaid in a one-off thing, either through some sort of play, being magically transported into the role, etc.
Just because a character is a mermaid, does not mean they qualify. They have to specifically be based on or an allusion of the Little Mermaid.
No OCs or fan characters, official characters only! For more information, read this post from when Cinderpoll was going on.
No real people!
I reserve the right to reject a character if I do not feel comfortable including them, either because of the subject of the story or the media it is from.
When we did Cinderpoll, it was a 128-bracket. I have a feeling there are much less Little Mermaid characters out there compared to Cinderella, so the goal is going to be for 64! That said, if we DO manage to get enough for a 128, I will happily do it! (No more than that, though.)
Feel free to write propaganda on why your character is the best, either when you are submitting the character or through the ask box afterwards.
Be nice and have fun!!! This is just for fun, please do not get too worked up if your character is not submitted a lot or loses in the tournament. This is just for fun and is not indicative of morality of the characters who win.
