Every morning in Frankfurt, Germany, you might catch a glimpse of Jenny, a horse who goes on a long walk every morning, all by herself. She has been taking the same route every morning for 14 years, ever since her owner, now 79 years old, became unable to ride. She enjoys greeting all of the familiar faces along the way, and she stops and gets treats and pettings from some of her favorite humans. The locals treat her like a celebrity and happily clean up after her.

A piece of paper is attached to her halter that reads, “My name is Jenny. I didn’t run away, I’m just walking. Thank you.” But the police get calls frequently from people who don’t know about the arrangement. They are very familiar with the horse and the owner, and there have been no incidents in 14 years. A local veterinarian gives her routine checkups and continues to find her to be healthy and showing no anxiety about her unique lifestyle.

During the Pearl Harbor attack of 1941, an African-American mess attendant named Doris Miller jumped into combat without any prior training, shot down Japanese planes with a .50-caliber weapon, and pulled several wounded soldiers through the burning ship safely. This exact scene was also shown in the 2001 Action movie Pearl Harbor. The U.S. Navy decided to name an aircraft carrier after him for his bravery.

People like RBG are why you have the right to do so.

I would like to apologise for being so inactive, I left for Navy boot camp shortly after I made a post about it and I realized that everything is still in my drafts and not posted. After Navy boot camp came what we call A School which is where we learn to do our chosen job in the military. I'm back now and things can move on during these sad times. I'll probably even post some pictures of my journey in the Navy!

William Harvey Carney was that first African-American soldier to be awarded the Medal of Honor. Despite being shot in the chest, arm, and legs, the soldier, who was born as a slave, held the American flag high, refusing to let it touch the ground and fall to the enemy. The Oscar-winning film Glory depicts the heroism of Carney.
