reasons why people with ADHD lie

we didn't remember what was happening and our brain made something up we only later realized wasn't true.

no one believes us when we tell the truth so it's easier to lie.

we didn't realize we were lying until the words were already out.

we have a complicated relationship to truth in that we rarely know what it is until we're told/have it affirmed to us.

18. are you spiritual? I am! Haha I say that I’m a Christian but when I say that I mean something rather different from most Christians. Very into queer theology and liberation theology. I think the importance of justice and and resisting empire through radical love can’t be overstated. Didn’t mean to go on a rant, just thought I’d give a peak into what I think about 

34. do you believe in soulmates? hmm I think so? Like in my head it’s a tier system. I think there’s one person in the world that you’re perfectly matched for, 100% in sync. Then I think there’s several people you could be incredibly happy with for a life time, and even more people that you would be lucky to be with and very compatible but not quite perfect, and so on.

39. are you a sensitive person? yeah, i’m fairly sensitive. the things people say and do can have an impact on me and I think about it long afterwards. I also love taking care of others and being a good guest when people visit me

46. what is the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for you? i can’t recall a single instance, so many people have been kind to me in so many ways

So it’s been like two weeks now that I’ve been diagnosed with somewhat severe adhd and have been taking medication for a week. I’m definitely seeing a change in my ability to start work, stay focused, and restart once I get distracted. This is a huge relief, especially since I have an anticipated three more years of super intense study. However, I would like to point out for the record that I would have been a kick-ass ancient human. Can’t focus? Always moving? Needs constant stimulation? Boom instant superhero in ancient Greece or wherever. Idk, maybe this is just trying to rationalize having a really hard time the last four years of school. But I’ll trade my ancient hero can’t-focus brain for the ability to read through a court opinion in one sitting any day
