just watched the new meitantei precure... the build up for this has been so fucking good. its a mystery that has been going on since the show started and now its been solved. i'd consider this one of the best episodes in the franchise ever. i'm so so looking forward to how this will play out and the backstory between arcana shadow and eclair

not been on here lately so here are my thoughts on the banger anime that started airing this month.

bang dream! yumemita

so i have been obsessed with bandori since getting into avemygo last year, so when they announced yumemita of course i'd have to tune in. it has the potential to become my favourite bandori anime ever, surpassing its mygo. first of all, i loooove the magical girl theme. anyone who's followed me for a long time will know i adore magical girl shows so seeing a band in my current favourite franchise have a magical girl theme feels like something tailor made for me. and it even has a precure parody manga which the main character is a fan of! now as for the show itself, its really good, has the perfect mix between comedy and drama, i enjoy all the characters. nonoka is my favourite so far. and also i'm very interested in whatever viola's deal is. this is the first time an antagonist in bandori has been a teenage girl rather than an adult and she's so deliciously unhinged. she's a terrible person but i enjoy her screentime. i'm rooting for ritsu to get the fuck away from her and get back with arale. my only concern is the spotlight distribution because it seems like most of the narrative will focus on arale and ritsu with viola serving as the antagonist, which makes me worry that nonoka, yuno, and miyako are going to be sidelined. but i'll wait and see what happens

goodbye lara

a retelling of the little mermaid in which she's reincarnated into the modern world after her love for a human brings destruction to her kingdom. she lives with a human girl named mari and relearns how to navigate the modern human world. the story interests me so far. the concept of the little mermaid, whose love met a tragic end, being reincarnated, rooming with a human girl, and getting another chance interests me. and the evil witch who cursed her being reduced to said human girl's pet fish is a hilarious turn of events. two episodes in and i enjoy mari, i look forward to seeing more of her and how her relationship with lara blossoms. as for the show having a yuri ending like many people are saying.... honestly i don't have hope for that. i believe its going to end up in the same leagues as nana and hibike euphonium as the greatest yuribait of all time. the opening seems to be setting lara up with the guy who looks like the prince. am i still going to be tuning in? hell yes.

i read the manga so obviously i have to tune in to the anime. its a beautiful adaptation so far. the animation is gorgeous and the fights are so wonderfully animated, its great to see the manga panels come to life. seeing mimisheena and aliseiran animated is going to make the anime much more tragic. and what even hits harder is how mundane the school life is. we see students casually talking to each other, asking if they want to hang out or what they want for lunch, while they're being trained for war. their dedication to making mimi look as adorable as possible makes the nature of her character even more tragic, as she's just a normal girl who loves to eat and play and hang out with her friends. that's the tragedy of kimishinu, they're all normal children who do normal teenager stuff but they're being prepped for war. i'm so sad that this anime is only going to be 12 episodes, i do wish yuri adaptations could get the greenlight to cover the whole manga as more often than not these anime feel like promotions for the manga.
