Tina took the coffee, careful not to spill it, or step on any more slippery patches. It had been a near miss from being scolded by the beverage, and she knew next time she might not be so lucky.
Tina eyed Mr. Hopper with suspicion. She might have trusted James, but his friends were another thing entirely. They were, after all, pirates, and pirates weren’t to be trusted (until proven otherwise, in James’ case). Especially since Tina’s only working knowledge of him was what she had heard through the grape vine, from folk her age that ended up working in the factory. Given James’ own shady past, she wouldn’t put it past Hopper to have something going on in the background too.
“I don’t nag my fiancé, thank you very much,” Tina argued, sticking her nose back in the air. Sure, nagging she wouldn’t do, but… pouting, batting her eyes? That might work. Would it work on Hopper…? It was worth a shot. Her bottom lip jutted out, her eyebrows upturned. “Please can you tell me? I promise I won’t tell James you told me.”
Kevin watched as Tina took the coffee in her hands, like a hawk he watched it as if he expected for it to spill another time. Not that he would buy her a new one if the clumsiness of her came through.
He could see the suspicion in her eyes, the way her eyebrow raised itself and her lips turned down, well he was used to being distrusted - a villain he liked to think of himself that way for the sake of it. He didn’t know James from his past however, but he did know James in his present - and he too could see that James had become a better man simply by falling in love. Love was a powerful thing that could stain even the darkest of hearts.
“Hard to believe.” Kevin said with a smirk. Almost giggling that she acted in such a way. “No can do, I have made a promise to James - like I said if you wanna know you should ask your fiancé instead.”
