please tell me that I don’t have to face my classroom tomorrow and attempt to assure them that everything will be ok when i myself am not sure.

tell me i don’t have to tell my black students that I disagree with their future president who thinks the blm movement is evil.

tell me i don’t have to assure my students of the Muslim faith that i don’t agree with their future president that their faith and voice don’t matter.

tell me i don’t have to comfort my students from Spanish-speaking countries who are terrified that their future president wants to rip their families apart.

tell me i don’t have to assure my female students that they won’t always live in a world that degrades them and thinks it’s ok to assault them for simply being female, even though the future president seems to think it is the way the world should work.

tell me she’s going to win and i will be able to tell my students with confidence that our future is brighter.
