Next to Normal is one of those shows that, after I saw it (for both runs in the UK) I had to seriously refrain myself from buying tickets to see it again and again (actually the Donmar run sold out so I couldn't but that's beside the point). I am bursting with good things to say about it with no one to blurt them out to so you get it here.

Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey weren't pulling punches when they wrote the lyrics and music to this show. I love that musicals can be whimsical and fun and not be taken seriously. But there's an extra special place in my heart for shows like this where the content is so incredibly meaningful. It's raw, and it's real, and you feel and understand something of the motivations of each individual character. And the cast is phenomenal.

Please, please go and see it. Bring tissues.
