Here's another foreshadowing for Neil's death in dead poets society.

The night when Neil kills himself, we see a glimpse of Mr Perry's room, and particularly his night table. On it, there is a painting : ''The Red Boy'' by Thomas Lawrence.

This painting depicts a little boy, Charles William Lambton, when he was 7 years old. It was commissioned by his father. However, Charles died some years later, at 13.

I'm sure they did it on purpose, there is so much symbolism in this. Father and son, the son dies.... yk.

Mr Perry doesn't actually see his son the way he truly is. He wants Neil to act a certain way, to be someone he is not. In a way, He traps Neil in a fake image of himself, it that makes sense. And this is what kills him.

Like Charles, Neil will never grow old. He will forever be trapped as a teenager, the same way Charles only exists through a painting.

I love Porco’s character sm and I feel like he gets forgotten so easily and it pains me to have so little content about him :‹

Mans is only ever portrayed as a toxic narcissist and I honestly struggle to see why. Like, he’s cocky, for sure, and definitely overly so but not to a toxic degree imo

I also find his story very interesting and tragic in a way bcs wdym you were left behind despite being obviously better than Reiner, wondered why you had to be the one that got left behind for years while you waited for your brother to return only to learn he died weeks (2-3 at most if I remember correctly) after leaving ???? Like I would resent Reiner and be mean to him too if I thought he was the cause for my brother dying.

No hate to Reiner bcs there is obviously more to that story but man it has been rough for Porco too
