Taiko drumming. In 1971 Sado Ondekoza, a drummers troupe started as part of a movement to revive the culture of the region. But the members were young people coming from all over Japan failed to establish a good relationship with local residents. In 1981 they made a new start as Kodo, then in 1988 the group open the Kodo village and gradually Kodo members and islanders learned to work together more closely. Image via Pinterest
