Why, Universe, did you decide I was strong enough to handle this?

Be strong, saith my heart; I am a soldier; I have seen worse sights than this.
Donna Tartt, The Secret History (via wordsnquotes)
he is half your soul ————- as the poets say. you would know him in strife , in fear , in joy , and in agony. he is your heart , he is the heart of the entire WORLD. watch as he EMITS sunlight , as all turn their heads towards him like eager flowers. watch his joy exuded in peals of laughter. AND YOU ; the woman of war. the spitfire snake , the smile that sends men RUNNING in fear. he is your heart , and you are his shield. and together ————– FRANCE SHALL NEVER FALL !

They’ve promised that dreams can come true - but forgot to mention that nightmares are dreams, too.

———– AND BEHOLD HER ! mighty maiden of brimstone & fire / she devil / silver tongue & golden laughter. she who paints her lips in crimson , her eyes the hue of midnight / she who is a lioness , magick at her fingertips . EVERY INCH A QUEEN / GODDESS / PROTECTOR . and know that she will never bow down for any man. independent & selective demigoddess oc / as penned by seb

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.
Oscar Wilde, Lady Windermere’s Fan (via wordsnquotes (via oceanfared)
The most terrible thing about it is not that it breaks one’s heart—hearts are made to be broken—but that it turns one’s heart to stone.
Oscar Wilde, De Profundis (via theliteraryjournals)
ALSO IMPORTANT : jules runs a shelter / home for children and young adults that are homeless. many are ones that she has found in the street , or workers in the clubs that needed to get OUT. she uses her own home to house them and her own money to supply 3 meals a day as well as clothing and schooling ( since it’s basically a mansion , and she is the sole heiress to the Li family fortune ) it started simply as a way to protest her father’s greed and hatred of children during his life. she took all that he had and gave it to others to show him that his hatred was not the strongest weapon. but it quickly became a passion , and an intense love for all of the children that she houses , many of the young ones even taking to calling her their mother .
her oldest is naomi at age 21 , and her youngest is benny at age 3. juliet is known for cooking all of the meals in the house with the help of the children , as well as teaching the ones who want to learn small acts of magic that they can perform without needing any powers , and reading to them every night before they sleep. though the children have very few chores , she does pay for them all to attend schooling ( the older ones that have jobs are always told to keep the money for themselves. ) and she has had upwards of two dozen people that have come into her care and left with a head start on their lives.
I THINK IT’S IMPORTANT TO NOTE that jules has killed TWO men in her life , both of them in the same way and both in self defense. THE FIRST was her father , THE SECOND was a boy she saved from the streets and fell in love with ( he was 3 years her senior ) because of both of them she has developed an extreme distrust in MOST men and refuses to be submissive in ALL situations. their cause of death ? she ripped out their throats with her bare hands.
--- LITTLE ONE !
IT HAS BEEN YEARS SINCE I’VE SEEN THE SUN ! my eyes only find shadows around corners , i must sleep with my eyes wide open . a quiet smile is offered , i hardly recognize my own voice . ❝ yeah , that’s what i’ve heard . ❞ I KNOW IT WELL ! ❝ would you BELIEVE i have a condition ? ❞
THE MOON MOTHER GUIDES THOSE LOST BY THE SUN. watch her eyes that beckon like midnight ( but they hold softness / a soft summer’s rain in the middle of the summer / an adoration for this boy ) reach to brush the hair from his eyes , REVEAL WHAT LIES BENEATH. ghosts whisper to her , thousands of universes burn beneath her skin , magic and mystery lingers in her fingertips . ‘ i would believe you , it’s quite rude to not believe sweet boys like yourself . ‘
Batman Returns (1992) dir. Tim Burton
If you are not too long, I will wait here for you all my life.

It takes great courage to see the world in all its tainted glory, and still to love it. And even more courage to see it in the one you love.
