The Ampharos did not show any sign of direct hostility, and merely appeared confused at Lorenzâs reaction as he did his best to hide completely behind Adrian, digging his fingers so deep into his shoulders there was no way it wouldnât leave a mark. Good natured as it was, the wild Pokemon made a step forward, just to make sure the human wasnât hurt⊠But then, it noticed the less scruffy human was taking out a Poke BallâŠ
The Electric type hopped back as Sandy was called out. It riled itself up and let sparks fly out of the pearl on its forehead, responding tus to what it perceived as a challenge with the possibility of being caught at stake. The bit of intimidation intended for the Probopass did have its intended effect, but not on the right target, as Lorenz sunk to his knees covering his ears as the Ampharos let its little firework show go on for a few seconds.
Sulfur seemed quite concerned by his trainerâs reaction. He didnât understand it, but he got enough to know he had to kick that oversized sheep back to where it came from. The Croconaw stepped up to join Adrianâs Pokemon, and immediately went on the offensive. He made use of his Scary Face move, which seemed to do a good enough job making the Ampharos second-guess what he was up againstâŠ
Taking ahold of itself despite the Croconawâs attempt to scare it, the Ampharos let out another cry. Sparkles began to fly again (Lorenz twitched once more) and as soon as Sulfur was within its reach, he was struck by a Thunder Shock attack.
The water type was zapped by the miniature lightning right where he stood. The move itself wasnât all that powerful, but after a whole day of fighting and walking, there wasnât much more he could withstand, especially from a Pokemon that had a type advantage over him.
Seemed like it was all down to Sandy and Adrian now!
If it didnât look like it was going to fight before, it sure did now. The way Lorenzâs fingers were digging into his shoulders, it really seemed like his fear has gotten worse rather than better.. He knew if Lorenz was anything like he had been back when they last saw each other, heâd hate for this sort of weakness to be pointed out. So he didnât say anything; instead he just made sure to keep himself firmly between Lorenz and the offending electric type.
âSandy, use rock polish now!â he commanded, though as his pokemonâs mini-noses furiously sanded away at his own rock surface he noticed Lorenzâs croconaw jump into the fray. He gave a small gasp, unable to do anything as the ampharos retaliated with a rather effective thunder shock. âSandy get âim outta there, quickly-â Sandy obeyed, moving a bit quicker now that heâd taken the time to polish his surface. His mini-noses expertly moved the croconaw back to safety, letting out a slew of rock-like noises.
âNow, use earth power- knock âim back anâ follow up with stone edge!â He seemed to have ditched his over exaggerated TV-style battle poses, though they were replaced with a confidence that hadnât really been there before. Using his heightened speed, Sandy set to work at his given commands. He began to glow golden as the ground underneath the ampharos cracked and split until it violently erupted with power, the earth jutting up and outward to attack the ampharos. As his golden glow went away, Sandy jutted his mini noses in an upward motion for his next attack. He didnât intend to give the ampharos an opening. The earth rumbled as spiked rocks began jutting forth from below, going straight for the electric type!
Adrian kept his eye on the fight, but turned his head a bit to speak to Lorenz. âIâve got this handled, so thereâs no reason for ya to stick around if ya wanna move on ahead. This guy ainât gettinâ past me, anâ I can catch up with ya later. You can probably find us a good spot to camp by the time Iâm done here.â He sets his lantern down next to him. âYou can use my lantern. I have a fire type on me.â
