Not sure if you're still receiving these but, how do you headcanon Sparx's mental health?

this is an ask i put off for a while bc i didnt know how to answer it but!! here we go

sprx has been through so much trauma, just like the other monkeys. sprx has a special case though where often times, he is put through a situation that he’s powerless to stop. ex: nova slipping from his fingers, him being possessed by the fire of hate. ones he does have control over he often messes up, ex: the giant planet, STAYING ON THE PATH ON THE HALLOWEEN PLANET. 

like. sprx doesn’t feel like he contributes much to the team, feeling as though anyone could take his place and could easily do better than him. he’s an ace pilot, but that’s not special. everyone can pilot the robot. nova has her strength, otto his mechanics, gibson his science, antauri his wisdom, and chiro his leadership skills and endless possibility. 

sprx has his magnets. that’s it. and of course the rest of the team would say otherwise if they heard him say it, but honestly he can’t shake that feeling. 

also, sprx after the whole thing with the fire of hate? he won’t spar with the others anymore. he doesn’t want to hurt them. knowing what kind of damage he can do terrifies him. 

tldr? he feels like a walking bad luck charm. the only reason he sticks around after everything is because he loves them too much to leave. and he feels worse because of that because he thinks it’s selfish.

    IT’S TOO BAD THAT THE REAL ISSUE was inside those caves these fish guys were guarding, otherwise he would have had half the mind to use the Super Robot to end the problem right then and there. And yet here they were–surrounded by an army of fish-headed warriors, brandishing fishing spears (boy wasn’t that ironic,) and giant hooks.     Chiro often opted for peaceful options when he could. He was a leader who believed in avoiding making the first strike unless it was absolutely necessary. Antauri had agreed with this decision–after all, these ichthyian warriors surrounding them weren’t the REAL threat, they just a bunch of locals guarding their territory.         It just so happened that the caves in their territory had been infested with Skeleton King’s army, unbeknownst to the primitive fish-heads. Leaving the issue untended to was like leaving a time bomb while it was still ticking. The situation was just BEGGING for disaster.       “ EASY NOW, I’m sure we can work this out calmly… “ All he could do was stand and hope he could placate the matter. Here’s hoping his hotshot partner would do the same… // @magnctfists​

   sprx wasn’t quite sure how he got dragged into this situation. to be honest, he would have rather had antauri be here instead of him. how was he supposed to convince a bunch of dumb fish to let them through? all he knows how to do is run his mouth-- and it’s not like when they were at the giant planet he was a smooth talker. 

  still, as part of his ‘never giving up’ code, sprx was more than ready to take the initiative and back chiro up, no matter how dumb he was going to sound in these next few sentences. to be honest, knowing sprx’s track record, he was probably going to make things worse. 

  “ hey-- eh, fish, populace..? sprx here. and i just gotta say, we’re not here to hurt anybody. we’re here to fix a little infestation problem you have going on that involves some nasty bugs. so uh, if you don’t mind letting us through, we’ll take care of that for you! for free, even! how does that sound? ”

lmao i can’t decide if sprx would be afraid if he saw the skeleton king again or if he would be so overcome with rage that he would go off on his own and try to get revenge against the skeleton king for possessing him. while sprx partially sees that whole thing as partially his own fault, skeleton king definitely played a part. 

i think he would take the anger route, because it was the skeleton king who stripped away his link with the power primate. it was his rage that consumed the monkey. 

just. sprx rushing in and going for an attack against the skeleton king and chiro is like ‘pls dont’

ok i have to leave for class real quick here but!! a quick headcanon change

i used to think that sprx used to just not be able to connect to the power primate at all...... but what if he used to be able to access it just a bit but when he was consumed by the fire of hate he just. couldn’t access it anymore like a part of him was just torn away?? he just feels so empty and disconnected from the others because of this 

and it takes the others to help him connect to it again but its. going to take the time and energy that sprx doens’t think he has anymore :))

something i absol-fucking-lutely would love to explore again w/ sprx is his lack of connection to the power primate

something i was thinking about the other day too was maybe he had like. a small bit of connection to it before but when he was infected by the fire of hate he didn’t have it anymore

and so he’s left after the whole incident feeling like not only skeleton king is alive again, but now he feels like something’s missing. like something was ripped away from him, but he doesn’t know what it is. 

and maybe antauri and chiro feel nervous around him, but aren’t sure why? it’s like he’s a walking void, kind of like a ghost. 

i think casper quoted it best in a past rp (i was going back and reading them bc even though my writing back then was absolute garbage......... i just like reading them)

  they hung like that for a while, sprx resting his head against tennessee’s shoulders. it was kind of a strange feeling for the monkey, being this in love with someone. of course, he wouldn’t– couldn’t complain. it made him feel all light and fluffy, as if he was flying in a way he wasn’t before.
