When I look in herr eyes like a dove, I see a tempest shrouded in perfect love
Hurt/comfort dialogue prompts:
“you look like you could use a hug.”
“do you want to talk about it? ”
“hey, it's ok... i've got you. ”
“you know you can tell me anything, right?”
“take as long as you need to. ”
“go ahead. i'm listening. ”
“you're shivering. here, take my jacket. ”
“you don't have to pretend to be alright around me. ”
“c'mere. let me hold you. ”
“is there anything i can do? ”
“it wasn't your fault. you know that, right? ”
“hey, it's ok to cry. ”
“why are you bleeding? what happened? ”
“tell me who hurt you. ”
“shh, don't be afraid. it's me. you're safe. ”
“i won't let anything happen to you. ”
“i'll love you no matter what. ”
“of course you can hold my hand. ”
“we'll get through this together. ”
“i'm not leaving you. ”
“call or text me anytime. ”
“my door's always open. ”
“you deserve to be taken care of. ”
“come here, let me look after you. ”
“don't worry, i'll be here when you wake up.”
A fitting visual analogy for retail-guest relations.

This is an apt analogy for getting answers out of men sumtimes...
He asked me when I fell in love with him and I knew it sounded dramatic to say the moment I saw him, so I told him this story of my grandma who had Alzheimer's- she forgot her name and the words for fruit and food, she forgot her address and how to use the washroom, all her life lost to the disease. The only thing she remembered was her son's name and when that began to fade, the one thing she always remembered was that she loved him, even in illness, even in insanity. She saw this 6 foot 2 man with a scrubby beard and she didn't know him but she said she trusted him, she asked him to hold her hand when she died. When does memory end and love begin? All I know is- she loved him before she remembered him.

Times are bad in my homeland right now. Here are some of my favorite pictures from my childhood Ukrainian story books.
Moonbeam's gentle light reached us.
Sleep, little one, the hour is late.
You will sleep well, until you know,
What sadness is.
Quickly you'll learn, misfortune and ill.
Harsh is the hour! Bitter each minute!
Evil does not sleep ...
Hush, child, in life there's much tears.
Shameful to bow to this, bend to you fate!
In your hour, you must fight it - lose rest and sleep
Moonbeam's gentle light reached out ...
Sleep, little one, while there is time!

Update: so far, Russian army forces seem to only bomb military airports and bases all over the country, so hopefully Ukraine will surrender by the end of the day and give them the East and the South. The lives of the civilians are more important than the integrity of the country, so that would be the best turn of the events for now
Update 2: they scheduled negotiations for today (and as I typed that I heard the explosion 👍)
As someone from the Donetsk region, I would like to ask people to block and report this person brendanicus, (presumably) a North-American who has been obsessed with spreading misinformed interpretation of the situation in Ukraine that does not even align with the timeline, much less our experiences. As a result, I’ve been seeing people parrot it to justify the 8 years long war and the current wave of Russian aggression that have literally nothing to do with “Nazis”, “the genocide of Russians” or “DPR/LPR/Crimea people’s wish for independence”.
For the most part, the situation in Ukraine is the result of territorial disputes between Ukrainian oligarchs and their American/Russian/European investors/sponsors. When I explained it in great details to him (link above), provided sources and politely asked him to educate himself, he blocked me and deleted my reply from here.
This person is not interested in educating himself or others, he just wants to pick-and-choose tweets and articles to make himself look right despite the fact that his theory can be disproved with the first paragraph of the related topics in the wiki(linked in my response).
While we are on the subject, do not donate to any related charities. Your money will not see those who need it. There is nothing you or us can do to change the situation for the better, only the time will.
Edit: to the anon asking about what type of charities did I mean, all of them. The Ukrainian military and related organizations receive the money from the West, so they are not in need. If you want to donate to someone individually, beware that Ukraine does not support Paypal (can only send money, need a card from a different country to accept ), cashapp, venmo, so if that is what you are seeing, it is probably a scam.
"the fuck is happening in ukraine??" for the ignorant [23feb22]
THIS IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE. I have left out happenings. As I typed this more movement was reported. This is happening NOW.
Here is a map of Ukrainian oblasts (regions)
Direct your eyeballs to the eastern (that's on the right of the map) oblasts of Donetsk and Luhansk. These two oblasts make up the Donets Coal Basin, or Donbas region, of Ukraine. coal coal coal.
Hold them in your mind.
On this map above you can see an outline of the Russian separatist-controlled area of Eastern Ukraine. Please note that the Russian separatist-controlled area is not analogous to the oblasts of Donetsk and Luhansk. When on 21 February 2022 Putin declared recognition of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) and Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) as independent, we did not know if he meant just those cities and the surrounding Russian separatist-controlled areas OR the entirety of the oblasts. Where these borders are is incredibly important because Putin will use any excuse to declare a Ukrainian provocation. This ambiguity is to his advantage. [This is besides the fact that Putin has no fucking right to declare any of this land independent, or take any of it for Russia in the coming days.]
The Russian separatists, of course, claim the entirety of the oblasts, and Putin recognizes those claims. Russia has come to the "aid" of the separatists to defend against Ukrainian "aggression."
Tonight (23 February 2022), President Zelenskyy of Ukraine tried to speak to Putin on the phone, but was rebuffed. He gave a brief update to his people in Ukrainian, and then a long speech to the Russian people in Russian. Below is text of a translation of that speech from Max Seddon on twitter [thread starts here, good follow]:
We are divided by a shared border of more than 2,000 kilometers. Almost 200,000 of your troops and thousands of military vehicles are standing alongside it. Your leadership has ordered them to move forward, onto another country's territory. This step could be the start of a big war on the European continent. The whole world is talking about what could happen any day now. Any provocation. Any flare-up – one that could burn everything.
They're telling you that this flame will liberate the people of Ukraine, but the Ukrainian people are free. They remember their past and are building their future. Ukraine on your TV news and the real Ukraine are two totally different countries. Ours is real.
There is more, click above link to read.
Russia is going to invade Ukraine, and not just the Russian separatist-controlled regions that were recently declared independent republics by Putin. This is colonization. Ukraine has a rich history and culture separate from Russia (its history and culture is MUCH OLDER than that of Russia, even). Putin denies this and claims that Ukraine is Russian. This is false and ahistorical.
(But why are there so many Russian-speakers in Donetsk and Luhansk? Well perhaps because the Soviets committed genocide in the 1930s and purposely starved millions of Ukrainians so that ethnic Russians could move onto their land. Search "Holodomor" if this is new information to you.)
The UN Security Council has called an emergency meeting for 9:30pm EST (I'm posting this at 7:22 PM EST)
The mayor of Kyiv, Vitaly Klitschko, has declared an emergency.
Airports are closed in Eastern Ukraine.
About the Russian invasion - how is everyone feeling there? What can we do to help?
Thank you so much for asking!
A little bit of history: it's actually been 8 years since russia first invaded our country. But for the last years it was getting more and more quiet. And now BOOM again
Many people evacuated from the destroyed by war cities in 2014 and some still live there even though they support Ukraine. It's hard to leave your home. So it's emotionally different for everyone. There was a joke that people from Kyiv worry more than people from Eastern Ukraine. Because they have experienced a similar thing in 2014 and now they're more prepared than ever before.
Personally, I'm panicking from time to time, because, yup, it's stressful. Most people don't really speak about the war and evacuation because it's scary. But I feel like everyone's trying to be prepared for the evacuation or fighting. Every night does feel like a last one, after all.
Since the beginning of the war, our people have been giving money to military charity. One of the most famous military charities is "Return alive" (Povernysya zhivim). Many Ukrainians donate here every month. Here is a link for Facebook page of the charity, let me know if it translates to English or if i should make a post with translation:
There is also a charity that helps military. Yana Zinkevych, a Ukrainian politician and a commander of the Hospitallers Medical Battalion, leads this charity. In 2015 she was paralyzed during a mission and since then she has been using a wheelchair. She has personally saved more than 200 soldiers and she's awesome.

In her post here she makes a list of needed ammunition and the needed money.
I tried to write about the charities that Ukrainians trust in. They are famous, they have been trusted by people all these years, so as far as I am concerned, they can be trusted.
Here is a post by @everlasting-burnout who provided more links. They seem trustworthy.

Thank you so much for reading and I encourage to reblog. Just to remind you, I'm trying to tell about Ukrainian situation as objectively and as truthfully as I can
Zelensky's live speech to the Russians tonight....haunting
Hi, guys!
As you may know, I am Ukrainian. I live in Kyiv. I have lived here since I was born and I love my country with my whole heart.
I see a lot of misinformation under the tag "Ukraine". Most of it comes from American people, who try to explain the conflict in their own words. They can't. It's impossible to explain if you haven't lived here. There are too many influences on this conflict. You keep looking from an american perspective, which is not crucial in understanding the conflict.
For example, have you ever had you language forbidden? Like straight up forbidden by the law? It happened to Ukrainian language a lot of times thought our history. And who did it? The Russian Empire. And it's not the end of it. The genocides, the assimilation, the deportation. Have you even researched Ukrainian history?
You do not uplift Ukrainian voices enough. And you should if you care about what's happening. If you don’t do it, you're just doing a performance of your support and activism.
Lucky for you, I am a Ukrainian person! And I am DYING TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. I scored 191/200 points on my graduation exam in history, so you can suppose I know something about Ukrainian history.
If you stand for Ukraine, uplift Ukrainian voices. Educate yourself. Learn Ukrainian history. Ask Ukrainian people
