WRITING PROMPT #66
In a matter of short minutes, he picked up his pen a multitude of times, but no more than a couple of empty words coloured the paper. He sighed, hands ruffling his hair, tree bark eyes squinting up at the smallish lights circling his office supplies. “Oh, stop it,” He demanded in the softest tone, a small smile growing on his worn-out face.
WRITING PROMPT #65
And when she wanted to be reminded of how horrible she really was, she read over the things that he said to her, thought about all the gorgeous girls he stared at instead of her and downed countless shots of malt whiskey. “Look at me!” she’d scream, dancing on bar tops and throwing up on toxic floors.
Can’t risk it
The duck of creativity. I waited so long for it.
I need creativity rn
Same.
I’m a writer, so…
WRITING PROMPT #64
Her youth was spent in well-hidden bars, cheap hotel rooms, stranger’s beds. Her clothes would never forget the smell of sweet marijuana, her shoulders would never feel any lighter, like those sweaty, muscly arms were still weighing her down. She remembered how her throat was so sore some days she couldn’t open her glossed lips, how hangovers would last days, how she could still hear loud music once she stepped out clubs she wasn’t allowed into. But she loved it, every bit of it. She loved her dilated pupils, she loved the sourness of her food from earlier that day and she loved those silly, silly walks of shame.
A small list of random ass sites I’ve found useful when writing:
Fragrantica: perfume enthusiast site that has a long list of scents. v helpful when you’re writing your guilty pleasure abo fics
Just One Cookbook: recipe site that centers on Japanese cuisine. Lots of different recipes to browse, plenty of inspiration so you’re not just “ramen and sushi”
This comparing heights page: gives you a visual on height differences between characters
A page on the colors of bruises+healing stages: well just that. there you go. describe your bruises properly
McCormick Science Institute: yes this is a real thing. the site shows off research on spices and gives the history on them. be historically accurate or just indulge in mindless fascination. boost your restaurant au with it
A Glossary of Astronomy Terms: to pepper in that sweet terminology for your astrophysics major college au needs
Adding to this since I’m working on a shifter au one-shot:
Canine Body Language
Feline Body Language
More:
Cocktail Flow: a site with a variety of cocktails that’s pretty easy to navigate and offers photos of the drinks. You can sort by themes, strengths, type and base. My only real annoyance with this site is that the drinks are sometimes sorted into ~masculine~ and ~feminine~ but ehhhh. It’s great otherwise.
Tie-A-Tie: a site centered around ties, obviously. I stumbled upon it while researching tie fabrics but there’s a lot more to look at. It offers insight into dress code for events, tells you how to tie your ties, and has a section on the often forgotten about tie accessories
Even more:
Types of High Heels: A page describing twenty five different types of high heels. It gives a description and pictures. Shake it up from just “stilettos and kitten heels”
Random Job Generator: Exactly as it says. The site offer more generators like characters, plots, or town names.
Glossary of Hosiery Terms: Figure out what is what on a pair of stockings.
Men’s Dress Shoe Guide: A quick guide describing the eight most common types of men’s dress shoes. Pics included.
Types of Women’s Coats: Descriptions and pics of various different types of coats.
WRITING PROMPT #63
This boy will tell you that he loves you, not long after he had you waiting for two hours in front of a cocktail lounge; patience is something you were working on, but no, not for him. He never meant a single word of any of it. He has lied to you before, remember?

NO MORE BAD THOUGHTS. DONT SAY YOURE A BAD WRITER. DONT SAY YOU WONT AMOUNT TO ANYTHING. NO MORE SAYING THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR WRITING.
You are growing.
You are learning.
You did not work this hard to throw it all away.
Look at your past self. Look into their eyes. Would you tell yourself that? To just give up? To that little kid that dreamed of being a successful writer, would you do that?
No more bad thoughts.
Only encouragement. Only hope. Only writing that is made to be improved. Only growth.
Only good thoughts.
WRITING PROMPT #62
She sat at her desk for hours, clenching a red pen in her hand, tapping on the paper stained with tears and mascara. She wanted to write down exactly what she felt but somehow the paper stayed empty; stained. And somehow, she could not have described it better.
WRITING PROMPT #61
“I might not seem like much now,” she mumbled, wrapping her thin cardigan over her small frame. She slowly turned her attention back to the man who sat next to her, gazing off into the distance, “but I’d like to be more some day,” she smiled at him with such sadness words could not describe, a single tear running down her cheek.
WRITING PROMPT #60
She fumbled with buttons on her blouse, tucked endless strands of hair behind her ear and adjusted her glasses too many times to count. “I don’t care! Send her in!” she hears through the paper thin walls.
WRITING PROMPT #59
Saturday was the day she spent sulking, filled with regret until another drink was shoved into her dainty hands. Sunday was the day she would drive to the local church, balling her eyes out, praying to a god she didn’t believe in.
WRITING PROMPT #58
Smoke clouded her face, seeping into her nose, past her lips, engulfing her entirely. She smirked, taking another puff of the cigar, making her way closer to the table crowded by a bunch of elderly men. “So,” She let out a cloud of fumes, tilting her head to the left, “are we up for round two?”
What about, like, a police officer or detective or someone just finding out about a conspiracy theory being true and having to get to the center of it? You could go with the Lizard controlling the government conspiracy, Elvis / Anastasia still alive conspiracy, moon not being real or the landing being faked theories, or what ever else you can think of. I just think it's a fun idea if you want to use it. Sorry to bother you and all.
See ‘Writing prompt #57′. I hope it was what you were looking for :)
WRITING PROMPT #57
Her husband had always been a curious case. He always wanted to explore, to find out what the world offers, to be something; even if that meant leaving her lying in the bed in the morning, a red sticky note on the nightstand, no goodbye, just an explanation. Lately he’d been going on about aliens, he’d tell her he’d be back soon, leaving a kiss on her head. But he didn’t return. He never returned. Maybe she was a fool for not believing him...
WRITING PROMPT #56
She watched him grow cold, his silver eyes become glossier each time she peered into them. She’d see him in the hallways, muttering under his breath. “I’ll be good, I’ll be good,” he would tell himself. They used to be so close; but now, he just pushed her away. “I don’t want you to get hurt,” he’d tell her. Those days, she walked away with tears threatening to fall.
