Hello! My name is Magpie and I'm here to trade shinies, look at pretty pictures, and promote awareness of the proper care for your gremlin frens and partners. Jangkku the Raccoon is my beloved companion :)))

🐸 my home is in the woods of the Appalachian Mountains, in the northeastern region. Think opossums, black bears, and lots of idiotic deer

🍓 --like most gremlins--I enjoy eating, sleeping, petting animals, splashing in creeks, and adding to my hoard

Stay as long as you need, the world is a hard place to exist in sometimes. If nothing else, know that this gremlin is glad you're alive, and is looking forward to bartering trinkets with you

adulting as a goblin

work: way to obtain “money,” a shiny which is usually not physical but can be used to sustain life. also can be exchanged for actual shinies.

bills: taxes to the lord of the land to keep your hoard where it lies. moving it would be a hassle.

obtaining sustenance: the grocery store is a TREASURE TROVE. someone has put all these edible things together and allowed u to invade. make sure to get some fruits and vegetables or they will go bad and that is wasteful. goblins are not wasteful.

dealing with humans: u must keep your goblin identity secret from those u do not trust! humans are nasty, but they like smiles and firm handshakes. try to speak about the weather, an accepted conversation topic.

chores: keep your hoard cave clean or your shinies will get dusty and dull. laundry is a quest that is rewarded with GOOD SMELLING FABRIC. doing the dishes means u have more things to eat off of and goblins love eating.

schooling: be smart, get more money, get more shinies. going out to class means u can get food on the way back to your cave.

personal hygiene: part of hiding your goblin identities from humans. must keep your teeth healthy for baring viciously at those who would cross u. showers smell good and u can feel like a wet ol swamp monster afterwards.

health: drink water, the shiny of nature. hoard emergency numbers. map the route to the nearest emergency room in case of invasion or personal injury. take your medications so that u can be healthy and clear minded, otherwise u may miss shinies on the ground.

things you can do as a goblin in the modern age:

treat AI like you would shapeshifters. look out for the warning signs. avoid engaging with them as much as possible. if you can't avoid them, don't trust them

thrift and repurpose whatever and whenever you can

educate yourself on what edible, medicinal and otherwise useful plants you can grow in your habitable space (especially if you've been forced to become an urban dweller)

educate yourself on what tiny little critters are actually positive for your living environment (for example: how to identify non-venomous spiders that actually contribute to pest control, so you don't accidentally kill or disturb them)

treat bureaucracy as you would malevolent fae. learn your loopholes. memorize the wording that will get you off the hook. follow the letter and not the spirit of the law. let them tie themselves into knots with their own rules and procedures

your workplace is the ideal place for mischief; hinder the powerful and support the powerless. learn who is affected by your tricks and plan accordingly

treat ads as you would sirens: don't listen to them and get out of there as fast as possible

claim what little power you have. decorate yourself however you want to. adorn your lair until it feels like home. sleep as much as you can. adjust your diet to feel alive. drink water and listen to music and remember to write by hand. find the magic in the ordinary

Goblin Wisdom

Let me impart to you all some Goblin Life Advice 

-appreciate simple physical pleasures, like a warm home, soft bed, and a full stomach. life isn’t always easy for goblins, so be mindful of the comforts you have now.

-savor the taste of food, especially meat or fresh bread

-make comfy pillow and blanket nests when it’s cold out

-if possible, sleep or snuggle in piles of your loved ones. Goblins are all about community. plus its basically a form of hoarding

-save things that you could reuse or recycle later

-save and wash plastic food containers (ex coolwhip) -use as tupperware 

-thrift shop. cheap clothes!! usually the smell comes out in the wash. 

-make your room your own space. mark it as your territory. fill it with your hoard. turn your bed into a nest fit for a gobling creche. 

-arrange your life to be comfortable and utilitarian without worrying about what others think of it. if ur depressed and need food, you can grocery shop in ur pjs without showering if that’s all u have the energy for. necessities first! go to ur 8 am without makeup. 

-adorn yourself in all the tacky, fun things you want without worrying about “fashion”

-free yourself from the idea that you need to be attractive to deserve respect and love in this world. 

-free yourself from the idea that you always need to seem to be put together in public. your life is not a performance and you owe nothing to no one

-let yourself ugly laugh in public
