âThen I shall make every effort to keep you in one piece this time.â
Gesturing down one of the long halls and beginning to walk toward one of her less frequented gardens, Frigga hummed a small laugh as he bombarded her with questions. Well, it seemed like that aspect of his personality hadnât changed, and Frigga was more than happy to oblige.
âOne question at a time, dear. I canât possibly answer them all well enough to satisfy your curiosity if I cannot remember them all.â
Moving through an archway, she led him to a bench in the garden, waving a hand to make it such that the garden seemed unoccupied, giving them more privacy. Sure, it would make her difficult to find, but her sight would tell her in advance enough if someone required her presence.
She hummed softly. âI think your interest lies most in your last question, does it not?â Frigga took a moment to ponder before answering. âHe is clever and strong, but not in the typical Asgardian fashion. As such, interactions are difficult for him, for his talents do not parallel those valued by our society. He is like me, talented in the ways of magic, and has excelled above what I can do. But I think he still struggles in spite of it, so I can only hope that he can use his gifts to find the strength to stand alongside his brother and rule someday, for he is more than capable.â
Frigga looked slightly sheepish. âI apologize, I spoke off topic. How else may I sate your curiosity?â
Lokiâs eyes were wide as saucers. At first he had been content to be awed with the beauty of the garden that rivalled some from his home, but the most surprising was how she perceived her Loki. Of course, he had been the apple of her eye when he had been young, so many, many years ago. Well, the first time he had been young anyway. One of the first times. Being a Loki was so complicated. Like being a Thor or a Frigga or a Freyja, really. Regardless, their relationship had soured and only recently begun the path to repair.
âYou would see him rule?â he asked. âYou would trust your Loki with this?â He was careful not to sound as though he were judging, offering genuine curiosity.
