Joyful rats pounding mochi, super cute yuzen dyed motif by @javasparrow9 to celebrate coming Year of the Rat (lunar year starts on 25th January)

Mochitsuki (= pounding mochi) is an important part of Oshogatsu/New Year celebrations in Japan since at least Heian period. Then, eating mochi was seen as a strengthener for bones and teeth, and thought to bring good health. Happy New Year 2020 😊

And you know what’s right next to it?

That’s right, the Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden, which translates to the Memorial for the murdered jews.

So if you wanna go have a look at the monument commemorating the victims of Hitler’s regime, you can park your car right on the spot he died and walk there.

Makes ya think, doesn’t it?
