Chronicling Life in the Argentine Countryside with Emiliano Martínez
July 9 marks the 200th anniversary of Argentina’s Independence. Discover more stories from the Spanish-speaking community on @instagrames.
(This interview was conducted in Spanish.)
Photographer Emiliano Martínez (@emimartinez123) looks at life in Argentina’s countryside and takes pride in his local culture. Originally from the province of Misiones, near the border with Brazil, he now lives in Ituzaingó, a quiet northern city and a land of gauchos, the cowboys of the vast fields. “A gaucho just needs the basics — he knows how to live and how to enjoy life with simplicity, far from the noise and the technology,” he says. Emiliano enjoys taking pictures of horseback riders and fishermen at the Paraná River, and capturing the local rhythms of traditional chamamé folk music: “Seeing how passionate people feel while dancing to it is something I will never forget.”

It's for this reason that noisy readers make me suspicious. If they love it so much, why do they feel the need to go on about loving it? How do they even find the time? Why isn't their nose already deep in their next book?

Apparently when Alexis Sanchez was younger he was given an assignment in school to bring a picture of his hero in a home made frame, he brought a picture of himself
People: Why are you supporting club, which is not from your city?
Me: I was born in the wrong place, but with the right heart!
In Kenya they do this raw mango and chilli powder thing, it sounds weird but its actually amazing
Love and hate were in a café sipping dreams and ambitions
As they chatted about mornings and the rising sun.
Jealousy stared at them from the window with her dark green eyes.
Insecurity and purity sat in the next table as they ordered the special which was justice served with a bit of liberty...

Do not fall in love with a poet. They will turn you into metaphors and rewrite you so many times, you won’t know who you are anymore. Also, they lie too beautifully.
