Hometown & length of time in town: Los Angeles, California. Moved to Briar Ridge when she was 14, left for college and returned a few years after for 10 years in total.
Neighborhood: Beach Front
Family: Only child, a mother and father still alive
Maia was born in Los Angeles when her father was on tour. He almost missed her birth but managed to get home in time. Her father was a guitarist in a popular rock band of the 80's and for most of her childhood Maia has many memories of staying home with her mom while her dad toured. Sometimes they would visit him during his tours and she grew up with the band members. When she was about 10 her father's career had slowed down, the band had broken up and he had no plans to join a new band. Maia's mother grew up in a small town in North Carolina and knew of Briar Ridge. They decided to move the family to North Carolina to raise Maia in a more stable city and household so they moved out there when she was 14.
Maia attended high school in Briar Ridge. And though it was very different than L.A., she still enjoyed the beach town. Maia was always friendly and vivacious and was a cheerleader in high school. When it came time to go to college, she choose to attend University of Southern California. Maia got a degree in marketing, but school wasn't really something she cared too much for. After school, she stayed in L.A. and started her history of bouncing from job to job with no real career.
She did social media for a cosmetics company while doing some small time modeling on the side. After that, she worked at a night club. Maia had money from her parents so working was never really needed. She moved around to different cities for a few years, working odd jobs and traveling on vacations more often than she worked. She lived in New York City, Miami and Chicago after L.A. before finally moving back to Briar Ridge.
When she moved back she started a job at a boutique, then was an assistant to a photographer, and finally she got her job as a bartender at The Golden Hour Beach Bar where she is currently. Maia likes Briar Ridge, she likes the city by the beach and still travels a lot while only working a few days a week.
Maia is a free spirit and vivacious. She's flirty, spontaneous and while spoiled she treats everyone kindly and respectfully. While she has no musical talent herself, she grew up around the music scene and has both family friends established in the music industry and new friends who have made their way into it. Maia has no plans for the future and is more focused on just enjoying life.
location: paradise point resort
open starter: ( capping at 4 max )
The success of the Masquerade hosted by Paradise Point had displayed a soaring increase in numbers, just as intended. Yet, it also meant more work had been piling up onto his desk, and unfortunately as a result, lunch breaks had to be cut shorter than usual for the time being. Now back onto the resort campus heading in the direction of the offices, Levi realized his tracks were cut short, the path blocked as the ballroom was currently under a deep clean-out from the recent event. Of course. With a sigh, he took a seat in a lounge area, deciding to start going through work messages on his phone. Hearing footsteps nearing closer, he glanced upwards momentarily. “I wouldn’t go that way.” Levi remarked, nodding towards the signs the clean up crews had put out. “It’s blocked right now.”
Paradise Point was one of Maia's favorite places in town. So when the masquerade had been held there, it had been a place she was familiar with. But the masquerade ball was over and they were sadly back to reality. Or at least as close to reality that Maia Bochner ever got. She sometimes showed up for the spa when she wanted to stay in town. And the restaurant and bar was a common haunt of hers. As today was proving it was a common spot for her. Maia had agreed to meet a friend at the restaurant for lunch with one of her friends, one of her friends who worked on the management side of things at Paradise. But Maia didn't want to wait at Alvaro's by herself, she'd rather find her friend in her office and bother her until they set out for lunch. However, the voice stopped her in her tracks. She stopped mid-stride and turned on her heels to take in Levi sitting down. "Is Abi around? Or I guess do you know of some other way to get to her office?" She asked.

"Hey, how ya doing?" Isaiah asked in his friendly approach before grabbing a bag to fill it up with a few apples. "You were at the masquerade, right?" Throughout the night, up until his date, he'd done his best to mingle with as many people as possible but some conversations ran longer than others. Plus, with everyone in masks there was no way to know for sure. Once he had four apples in the plastic bag he looked up and over at the person. "How any apple does it take to make an apple pie? This is enough, right? Mamaw called and said bring apples and I just said yes ma'am."
The apples were looking better today than they were the other week. And the bowl on her counter where she kept fruit had been empty for an embarrassingly long time. Maia needed to stock it up again and stop eating horribly. She looked up, pushing some of her hair back behind her ear and smiled. "I was. Don't tell me you recognize me, because I'm afraid I'm going to have to call you out on that one." She laughed softly. But at his second question, Maia laughed even harder. "You are asking the wrong person. I've never really cooked anything, let alone baked anything in my life."
"Yeah?" Thea questioned, raising her glass to her lips as she looked at the other. "I'm definitely not spontaneous enough and I think it shows." she admitted, looking down at her wardrobe and smiling when the other jokingly mentioned 'she hadn't noticed' Thea's wardrobe pattern. "I just - I guess I feel like I made myself spontaneous enough by uprooting my life and moving to Florida and that kind of backfired so here I am." she sighed, shrugging and then looked at her drink again, tipping the bottle and finishing off the drink before returning the bottle to the bar top and her attention now returned to the other. Despite the fact that the two women really only saw each other within the confides of the bar, they seemed to already be forming a nice friendship and Thea enjoyed the conversations they had together. "That's good. I meant more so here than you, but, at least I know I haven't been so oblivious to not notice a pregnancy." she chuckled. "A spa day would be nice, yeah. I don't know the last time I pampered myself for the hell of it; sure, why not?" @maia-bochner
"Well, you should try it sometime. It's fun!" But Maia knew it wasn't for everyone. There were definitely times she needed someone who was more grounded than her. "Though, as someone who is a wild child, I can attest that sometimes I need an adult and someone who is responsible to be with me." She laughed. "Hey, sometimes life bites you in the ass, but the trick is moving on. Trust me, life has bitten me in my big juicy ass a few times. But it heals and you and your cute booty move on." She smiled, moving to get Thea another drink without being asked. Opening the bottle, she set the beer down on the bar before her. "Well, here I hope there's no babies either." She laughed. "I'm no doctor but I at least know that alcohol and pregnancy don't really mix." Though there usually was plenty of other things going on for her. But hearing Thea agree, Maia let out an excited squeal and clapped her hands. "Oh my god yes! Okay, so if you get your plane ticket out, I'll book both of us at the resort and cover all of that. It's an amazing place. The food is amazing too besides the spa being one of my favorites. And it's in beautiful Sedona so bring some clothes to explore the city and hike if we want."
"Someone that's clearly predictable and trying not to be." she laughed, shaking her head as she looked at the bartender, the bottle secured in her head as she listened to her admit that Thea wasn't the bad guy here. Not that she even for a second thought she was but, the confirmation was nice none the less. "It just pisses me off. As you've seen I'm very much a flannel and jeans kind of girl. Some mascara on a good day and my black boots to tie together the outfit and I'm good to go. But that day I'd actually tried. I'd even gone out and bought new makeup so I could actually look halfway decent, but that was clearly a waste of my time and money." she spoke. "Not that I won't use it next time I go out for karaoke, though, watch me." she laughed, taking another sip of the drink. "His name was Fletcher. Supposedly tall, dark headed, blue eyes. Reminds me a lot of that guy from that one medical show.. don't ask me which one." sighing, she looked at the other and offered her a smile, thankful to have been able to get it off her chest. "What have you been up to? Any breakups, proposals, affairs or baby delivery stories to share this week?" @maia-bochner
"Hey, sometimes being unpredictable is the most fun." Maia chuckled, knowing that she lived a lot of her life that way. For example just two weeks ago, she took an unscheduled and unplanned trip to California just because. Maia loved living her life without a plan, taking it one day at a time. "What? I never would have noticed." She laughed, but she knew every time she saw Thea the other had been in jeans and flannels or something similar depending on the weather. "Hey, money is never a waste of time. You will have another use of it another time. Plus, if you ever want any tips or tricks, let me know!" Maia loved makeup and all things girly so if Thea wanted any help expanding her knowledge she'd be happy to teach the other woman. "Oh yeah that one medical show." Maia laughed, not knowing which one she was talking about out of the many medical shows on tv right now. "Though I might have to hunt this Fletcher down and teach him a lesson." She smirked. "Well, I can thankfully say there has been no baby deliveries or baby scares on my end." Maia laughed. "I'm thinking about booking a trip to one of my favorite spas next week. It's out in Arizona. Want to come?"
Maia loved nothing more than dressing up and getting decked out in sparkly, shiny things. And her dress certainly fit under that definition. The almost see through dress gave the illusion of nudity and making her look like she was only decked out in jewels and she was loving it. Man, why couldn't she dress like this every day? Looking around the ballroom, she admired all the other dresses. Already she'd been flirting her way through the ballroom and thoroughly enjoying herself. Just as she was exiting the dance floor, she swept towards a server carrying her favorite appetizer but a masked man cut her off. "Excuse me. I can't lose sight of that server, I want that whole tray." She offered the stranger with a smile, her dark gaze following the tray behind him. "Unless you want to help me corner the server?"
Of course, Maia would notice. Callum glanced down at his hands that tapped the bar nervously. "Uh-- not sure what you're talking about," he lied but the hint of a smirk and red cheeks gave him away. Blue hues stole a glimpse at her when she said she was hot, internally agreeing with the bold statement. "Just a bit," he admitted. Callum tugged gently at his shirt, allowing some cool air to wash over his hot skin. "It's just a friend...well...not a friend really but a girl I've been talking to," he mumbled. Callum sighed, hoping the truth might ease his shyness.
There was no way Callum would be able to hide this from Maia. She had a sixth sense about things like this. And as the man before her blushed and started stuttering she knew she was right. He was sexting someone. Delight sparkled in her eyes as he admitted to it. Though she didn't miss the way his eyes quickly ran over her body, which only brought a smirk to her face. He wasn't the only to react like that, but each time was an ego boost for Maia. Smirking, she leaned over the bar a bit to give him a teasing look at her chest. Put him more in the hot seat since she was enjoying this so much. "Mm, a girl, huh?" She asked, her eyes dancing with delight. "So what stage are we in? Just flirting? Or have you guys already seen each other? Just hookups or dating this girl? And what are you going to send back?"
With a laugh and a nod, Thea looked at the other. "You know I almost ordered the Angry Orchard Rose this time but I needed my comfort drinks for this next topic." she spoke, looking at the bartender, her fingers tapping against the bar top as she waited patiently for the other to give her her order. Once it was in front of her she took the bottle, taking a sip before she laughed. "Ooh, you're the kind of people I should avoid then." she playfully winked. "Honestly though, I was talking to this guy. We had made plans to hang out. I showed up a little early so I text him and told him that I was early but that he could show up whenever, no rush at all." she started. "Never replied. So, I waited until an hour after our meet up time and left, text him to tell him that I didn't appreciate being ghosted and that he could've told me he didn't want to actually meet up, and it's been nearly two weeks and he still hasn't replied to me." Thea shrugged. "I mean, I know I can be boring and obviously predictable but like, I'm also pretty fun." she shrugged. "His loss I guess."
Maia chuckled as Thea teased her right back. "Well, shit. You would have blown my mind if you did that. Who even are you?" She laughed before she gathered all of Thea's order and placed it out on the bar in front of the other woman. Once she did, she leaned against the bar waiting for Thea to tell her what was on her mind. "Hey! It's not my fault that a lot of people want to talk to me and see me! Or that I get easily distracted." She laughed, holding her hands up. "It's never done maliciously, though I can't say the same for some of these guys on the apps. It's like some of the worst ones come out on them." And as Thea told her about her latest interaction with just such a guy, Maia knew she was right. "Oh honey, I'm so sorry." She made a face and reached across to squeeze Thea's hand before releasing. "Okay, but fuck him. That's not ghosting. That's being a fucking asshole. Like you guys had plans, you had a time and date to meet. That's not just ghosting in the middle of the conversation." She surveyed the bar, looking over the patrons before turning back to Thea. "What's his name? Maybe I could find him and give him some payback? Fuck him up instead." She laughed. "But, yes it's definitely his loss. He missed out on you."
He nodded his thanks as she slid the drink to him, raising it to his lips and taking a sip, letting out an appreciative sigh to boot. This was exactly how he hoped his night would go. Glancing over his shoulder to watch the sun sinking lower and lower. Turning back to her, he shook his head. "I dunno... I don't know how anyone could get tired of that." he answered with a shrug. "I'd be pretty pressed to think of a better view anywhere else. But then again, maybe I'm a little biased." His answer was laced with a smile. "I've always had a soft spot for this town."
Part of the reason why Maia picked working at The Golden Hour for something to do, was because of the view. She loved working right on the beach, with the sand, the waves, and the sunset right there. He was right, it was a view that one didn't usually grow tired of. "I mean it's definitely one of my favorites." Maia agreed with a smile. "Though, there are some other views around the world I'm biased to as well." She grinned and turned her attention back to the man. "Are you from here then?" Half the people she spoke to regularly were from Briar Ridge, and the other half were tourists so unless she knew them it was a 50/50 call.
