The racism in Overwatch is getting ridiculous.
I was watching the spotlight the other day, and while I'm super glad Lucio got a collab skin, it's still so crazy to me how the Overwatch team thinks they're being funny. Announcing Mercy's SECOND mythic and showing Lucio getting upset even though so much of the community wants a Lucio mythic? Killing off Doomfist? Making fun of Ramattra? The one black woman in the game constantly being depicted as masculine? Adding another same-faced Asian character when there's only ONE FUCKING BLACK WOMAN IN THE GAME?!
I love Overwatch. I love the community. There's so many wonderful people, so many beautiful characters and so much lore that needs to be continued, but something needs to change.
The Overwatch team acknowledging the way they treat their black characters, and black-coded characters (Ramattra), and joking about it needs to be addressed.
Killing Doomfist and making fun of the fact that Lucio doesn't get a mythic during Black History Month?! The new release of all these characters, and not a single black woman in sight.
The Overwatch team knows what they're doing. They know that people are upset with how certain characters are treated, and they make fun of it.
I'm so tired of the way black people are treated within media and within fandom spaces, especially black women.
Overwatch needs to do better. We as a community need to speak about this more.
What is the obsession of some writers with non-consensual sex? Wouldn't that be... rape or something like that? If it were just a cnc fetish, I would just ignore it, but this "non-consensual" thing is a little uncomfortable and impossible to ignore. I find it strange that anyone would like it, sorry.
Or when they write +18 about characters who are minors, such as Neteyam from Avatar 2, who is 17 years old. I don't know if it's still there, probably yes, but I've already found several +18 stories about him here on this platform.
I think he's handsome and all, after all, he's my favorite character in the franchise, but I don't think it's cool to sexualize him, as he's clearly not an adult character. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I think.
I could give several other examples, but I don't feel very comfortable doing so. Still, it's something that bothers me a lot because I use Tumblr a lot to read about the characters I'm obsessed with on a daily basis, but I also think it's necessary for us to start thinking about it and even reporting it in some cases.

Hate when people try to force sexualities onto characters like Aki isn't gay and thats ok. Sure, he was willing to risk it all for Angel but he was also willing to risk it all for Himeno and he did risk it all for Makima. He's a suicidal bisexual with a thing for red heads and predators.
