HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here's some good 'ol boys enjoying a comfy onsen and vibing oh so right.
Also an update, to check in with folks and let everyone know what my status is / plans are as the year kicks off.
2020 is here, and that means a lot of things! Mostly that it's a fresh new decade! Holy shit!
In terms of me, as a person / artist? Well, it's far more small scale, but brings favorable resolutions all the same!
I wanted to write this when I was in a more affable headspace, do some quirky fun summary of what I've been up to and what plans I have in store, but it's 9:38am, I haven't slept since afternoon yesterday because I'm on that night grind, and I kept putting off writing this because I was riding a creative high of drawing a LOOOOT of dicks. So I think for the time being I'll just fart out some simple achievable bullet points!
I admit that last year was a little rough, mostly due to MS troubles and all that frustration with switching around my treatment. I feel like that really messed with my drive and set me back. But ah well, no use in crying over spilled glatiramer acetate!
2020 is the year of sorting a lot of my business shit. I've been in pretty damn good spirits all things considered (knock on wood), which means I'm feeling way more optimistic in tackling what needs to be done!!! SO, here's a list of the things I'm focusing on the most as my New Years resolution!
• Finishing the last of the commissions I owe!
This, I feel, is the biggest priority. I've perpetually felt awful about all the pieces on my list and the commissioners who are so patiently waiting. It's still my fault for biting off more than I can chew, but it is what it is, and this is the year I finally get these remainders accomplished! As a reminder, my trello with my commission WIPs is always up to date and I try to tab in regularly.
• Update My Website
Although I did manage to finally set up my site last August, I've never been completely happy with its design. A lot of that has to do with the fact that I need to generate content for it (decor, resources, upload the galleries etc.) but felt guilty working on such matters when I still had paid work I needed doing. That's a hang-up I've been trying to get better at managing! It's important to get it to a state that I feel aptly reflects the image I want to broadcast— even if the page is basically a glorified storage hub for nsfw pieces and artist info so I don't have to rely on third party websites that might up and decide they don't wanna allow adult content anymore.
• Make a sellers Redbubble Account
It's something I've been mulling around! I'd like to be able to offer prints and designs for stickers and the like, though I would like to do more research first. It's still a hopeful concept to me, one I will poke at more, I'd just like to gather some feedback on the sorts of things my followers would like to see there!
• Patreon
I've been resistant to the concept of patreon for some time. It's mostly been due to concerning responses I've heard between matters of scammers, the delicate opinion towards adult content, and the basic fact that I just don't like hiding my content behind a paywall. However! I have had numerous parties urge me to give it a go, purely as a means of folks supporting me in a simple kind fashion! Should I get an idea all ironed out, my basic plan is to have it mainly as a donation + small perks thing, but still keeping stuff public. I will always ultimately post my art publicly for free consumption, just probably at a later date than I do patreon. It's mostly a nice option for folks to support an artist they enjoy so I can afford to produce more, while still offering some neat small things (getting to leave feedback on surveys and questions about what you'd like to see from me, what you'd prefer, previews of WIPs, first views of completed pieces, etc.)! It would be pretty cool if I could earn some scratch to help pay for treatment and other medical matters, that way I'd have more time to focus on art rather than constantly having to take up additional odd jobs just to give myself some breathing room.
Aaaaaand I think that's the thick of it, for the moment! Thank you for reading, and sticking with me into the New Year! Let's try our best to make this a good one, focusing on what makes us happy and feelin' groovy.
