Something like that. In addition, someone has created a PC-based editor to manually change the number ratings for players, so you can fully customize players or teams as you wish. If you have the Xbox 360 version of the game, some fine fellows over at Operation Sports have taken it upon themselves to create edited save files that contain all 32 NFL teams already made and customized in Backbreaker. You can't edit team attributes specifically, like the number ratings and all that for individual players, but you can edit team tendencies, overall skill level, colors, logos, uniforms, and things like that. It's very similar to the livery editor in Forza Motorsport 2 and 3. One way around it in Backbreaker is that it features a pretty robust Team Editor.

Now, not having the NFL license is pretty much a killer deal that stops most football games from being anywhere near as successful as Madden. It's even an iPhone game that maybe some of you have tried. Running with the ball is probably the most fun thing to do in the game, which is probably why they have that "Tackle Alley" game mode where all you do is avoid people trying to stop you from reaching the end zone. The camera does make it harder to pass, while the running game isn't drastically hampered. I think it takes away from the fun, though.ĭefense isn't impacted so much by the angle, since there is a lock-on button to make you focus on the ball. It makes it tough to see the field, but I guess it would be slightly more "realistic" in that way. It's like the Superstar camera from Madden or NCAA, where you are put more behind the player rather than high in the sky. One of the major issues I have with the game is the limiting camera angle that they put you in. It makes for a more realistic feel, even though the player models make everyone look kind of ridiculous, and the uniforms don't help. Tackles will happen according to how the physics engine determines it. This means there aren't any pre-canned things you'll see repeatedly and require players to teleport or move unnaturally to fit into the animation system. The defining characteristic of the game, of course, is that it is a physics-based game, unlike EA's football titles where it is mostly animation-based. However, for a first go around at penetrating the football market that is dominated by EA, I think NaturalMotion's got a nice idea in Backbreaker, even though it ultimately feels like the game is not much more than a glorified tech demo. These include the lack of NFL license, or any real-life players at all, the crappy unchangeable camera angle and just overall lack of polish compared to Madden, which isn't the best example of such a thing but it's the only real thing to compare to. I was going to create one a couple weeks ago when the game released, but I forgot to do it.Īnyway it's been out for a short while now, and I'm sure sales haven't been that great because of the flaws and limitations of the game. So ideally the colors of t1 would have been blended with colors of t2 but because of failed z test of t1 and blending operation being after z test t2 colors wont be blended. Now later on t2 fragments are being drawn which is exactly in front of t1 which z test rejected in last step. So If z test rejects all fragments belonging to t1 so no color value for t1 is written to color buffer. The z test happens before blending operation down the line in pipeline.Ĭonsider scenario where we are drawing two triangles t1 and t2 t1 is back of t2. I think the order matters not only because of the blending function youĪre using but one important aspect of pipeline you have to keep in mind. So, whenever I'm rendering translucent objects after rendering opaque triangles, if I render translucent triangles from back to front in relation to the "view direction", is this correct? What exactly does back to front mean here? I'm trying to understand, if I have a scene objects that go through a mvp transformation, do I need to specifically look at the order in world coordinates, and in relation to the camera center?Īlso, additionally does this change depending on the blend type? If you don't render primitives in this order, the primitives, which would otherwise be visible through a partially opaque primitive, might lose the depth test entirely. Fully opaque primitives need to be rendered first, followed by partially opaque primitives in back-to-front order. Many factors af-fect the gamma motor neuron discharge for example, anxiety and stress increase its discharge, resulting in tensing of muscles and hyperactive tendon reflexes. Via these neurons, the sensitivity of the muscle spindles and, hence, the stretch reflexes and muscle tone can be al tered according to change in posture. The gamma motor neurons are regulated by descending tracts from certain areas of the brain. The gamma motor neurons are responsible for muscle tone. How is this impor-tant? The nervous system, by stimulating gamma mo-tor neurons, can make the muscle more or less sensi-tive to stretch. The stretch is detected by the sensory nerve endings, and they produce action potentials that cause the extrafusal fibers to fire. Contraction of these fibers at both ends of the spindle results in stretching of the middle region of the spindle where the sensory nerves are lo-cated. If the gamma motor neuron is stimulated, it causes the intrafusal fibers to contract. It was mentioned that the gamma motor neurons in-nervate the intrafusal fibers and that the contractile units of the intrafusal fibers are located toward the ends of the spindle (see Figure 5.31). If muscle spindles were not present, contraction of the muscle would be jerky and tremors will be seen. The muscle spindle is also able to detect changes in the rate of stretch and al-ter the frequency of action potentials to the extrafusal muscle fibers accordingly, to cause a smooth contrac-tion. In this way, the spindle and its reflex connections help maintain muscle length. If the muscle contracts, nothing happens because the spindle is also short-ened. If a muscle is stretched, the muscle spindle is also stretched as it lies parallel to the muscle fibers and a stretch reflex is elicited. When the muscle spindle is stretched, the mechanical stimulus is converted to action potentials that travel, via the sensory nerve, directly to the motor neuron supplying the muscle, causing it to contract (Figure 5.30). These motor nerves are the gamma ef-ferents or gamma motor neurons, and the motornerves to the extrafusal fibers are known as alpha ef-ferents or alpha motor neurons. These motor nerves are impor-tant and actually constitute 30% of the fibers in the ventral root. In addition to the sensory nerves that leave it, muscle spindles have motor nerves that innervate the intra-fusal muscle fibers. These sensory neurons synapse directly with the motor neu-ron to the same muscle. Some nerve endings wind around the center of the spindle, while others branch delicately on either end. There are two different sensory nerve endings. The intrafusal fibers are positioned in parallel with the rest of the muscle fibers, and the ends of the cap-sule are attached to the tendon of the muscle on ei-ther side. The striations or con-tractile units are located more toward the two ends of the spindle, with the nuclei located near the middle. The muscle fibers in the spindle are known as intrafusal fibers, to distinguish them from the regular muscle fibers that produce contraction, the extrafusal fibers. The intrafusal fibers are rather im-mature, with fewer striations. In brief, each muscle spindle consists of 2–10 muscle fibers enclosed in a connective tissue capsule. The absence or marked increase or decrease in muscle tone in the various conditions a bodyworker encounters is a result of variations in the activity of the muscle spindle.
