hellllllo! today i am speaking on my opinion of the new supergirl movie :p i watched it the other day and i'm finally getting to writing this oops
okay so first thought i had when i wanted to talk about the movie was that the song (if i remember correctly that was the middle) should not have been the cover !!!!!! it should have been the original version, i have seen people saying that they see it as a song that clark just downloaded for kara (which i get) but still;(
next thing that i had to say, was that jason mamoa's character was completely useless and if im going to be honest, just felt like he was there because they had the budget. i am biased bc i dont really like him but like, who rlly cares ykwim?
honestly that might be the only bad things about the movie in my opinion, i think there were parts that could definitely have been better but most were perfectly good! and it really sucks to see all the bad reviews just because she's a girl. and there are some people who are going to say "its not because shes a girl, its because it was bad" no. it's because she was a girl. i commented this on someone's post about supergirl the other day and said the different press that superman got vs supergirl was completely different and the reactions from the people were very different as well!
i dont take critic reviews too serious because i know i usually dont agree with them, but recent stats have come out surrounding the bad reviews vs the good ones and what gender went in each catagories and seeing the men having the worst reviews on the movie, unfortunately, is not a big shock to i think anyone who is living in this world. its so sad and weird that this still happens in 2026!!!!
but despite all of that, i did really like the movie. i loved watching kara navigate through a hard time and seeing the way she dealt with it, especially since we didnt get to see that in cw's supergirl (which i understand because kara was older in that, but you get my point.)
i didnt really like the idea of kara literally being younger than clark because she was born after he was sent to earth, which kind of didnt make sense to me until i debriefed with my friends after the movie to make sense of it, but im sure they went through with the route for a reason and cannot wait to see more or kara! i hope you all at least somewhat agree with what i have to say lol
