BIOGRAPHY

The twins were born during a rocky time in their parents marriage; some might even say that they brought the two of them back together. They were born on Christmas Day with the only difference being that Amelia was born with a heart shaped birthmark on her wrist and an intracranial hemorrhage. Amelia Shepherd performed a life saving surgery on the newborn hence how she got her name. You’d think the story would end there… however within her first few months of life, the family was out at the park. Her father went to park the car and change her twin’s diaper while her mother pushed her to the playground in the stroller along with their older sister, Harriet, who was only two years old. Once they reached the playground, young Harriet ran off towards the swings and ended up falling cutting open her knee. Her mother’s natural instinct was to take off after her but by the time she turned around, her baby was gone.
It took three years for the police to finally find the little girl. She was out with some older kids, who were also kidnapped, at a grocery store where they were stealing food. The police knew it was her because of the heart shaped birthmark on her wrist. From then on, the family never took their eyes off the twins. After a lot of therapy, Mia forgot about her kidnapping and her parents decided to keep it a secret from her. She and her sister were sent to a year round private school with high-end security where Mia went on to have a somewhat normal life. She graduated grade school top of her class because her family realized she has a photographic memory. She then went on to Stanford University, from her parents encouraging her to stay close and later, graduated from their medical school. She now is a surgical intern at Seattle Grace Mercy West who also dabbles a bit in modeling.
Life is great, although sometimes she has really terrible nightmares about being kidnapped so she started taking pills to stay awake. Even though she made a promise to her sibling that she would stop using them, she’s finding it difficult to keep her promise. Now when she wakes up in the middle of the night from the horrible dreams, she pinches herself to keep herself from falling back asleep and it’s leaving small bruises on her body that she can’t have for modeling. So taking the pills seem to be her only option at this point. She’s too afraid to go to anyone for help because she’s doesn’t want anyone to know how weak she feels inside.
