two years ago gary kinsman, the last remaining original board member of toronto pride, resigned in protest from the current board after they refused to pledge support for the calls to action published by queers in palestine. the board defended its majority position by claiming that participation in the BDS movement and generally expressing support for the end of the genocide in gaza, would surely alienate corporate sponsors and subsequently result in funding gap for toronto pride.

anyway! as it turns out you can both ignore the mass murder and displacement of thousands of palestinians, and still come up hundreds of thousands of dollars short, two years in a row!

toronto pride has not been for us for a long time now. not back when they were lukewarm on black lives matter, and not now when they ignore the violent, ongoing occupation of palestine. let the corporations and scabs have their tacky, toothless, apolitical party, and make your own toronto pride at home or elsewhere.
