Isabela chuckled when Diana cast a look around. “Careful, cher. You might just blush. Then you really would be caught.” It’d been a game, Isabela had played with the other since Diana’s first trip to the tower. But what had started as a game to get under Onyx’s skin had become a game Isabela actually found herself enjoying. “What’re you doing tonight?”
-
Diana knew these games with Isabela were dangerous. The other was cocky and intelligent and a bitch. Diana’d certainly caught herself staring at the other woman on more than one occasion, but she also knew Isabela had a grudge against Onyx and well... that put Diana in an interesting position when it came to Isabela. “Onyx if I have my way.” She responded, pushing a stray red lock of hair from her face.
@makeembcw
It hadn’t taken Isabela long to find Diana, the other woman’s vibrant hair making her easy to pick out from the crowd. “Hey Princess.” She murmured, centimeters away from the redhead’s ear, a smirk turning up the corners of her mouth. As much as she didn’t care for being in the Capitol, at least she got to get her fix in of messing with Diana. “Trix had to go home, which means you, lucky you, get me for the next…” she paused, moving around Diana, one index finger ghosting up the woman’s pale arm, “however the fuck long this takes. She smirked. “Maybe I’ll get into those pretty little knickers of yours before I leave.”
Diana’d been watching one of the large screens in the lobby, cup of hot tea in hand when she’d heard the whispered greeting. She startled slightly, whirling to face to known voice with an annoyed expression. “Bela,” But she didn’t finish the thought, her annoyance flashed to alarm as she threw a glance around them, ensuring no one heard the other’s words. “Doubtful,” she remarked, annoyance and alarm gone when she realized no one was listening, replaced by a smirk, old games falling into place easily, “I’m married.”
Enjoying the perks that came with being a victor, but not a mentor, Diana had settled her daughters with their nanny for the day after breakfast and then she’d come to the Tower to watch the launch. She’d been a few minutes behind what she’d wanted and ended up stuck in the lobby to see the launch and bloodbath. The arena was anything but what she’d been expecting. It was strange and seemed to have every season, but also... a kingdom in the clouds. She wasn’t sure what to think of it. She waited it out in the lobby, ensuring the Sapphire was safe and rolling her eyes at the struggle with the girl from Ten. Stupid. But at least Sapphire was alive.
Sure that Sapphire was okay for now, Diana shot Onyx a text to find out where he was. Confusion etched across her face when he said he was on District One’s floor - unusual, but alright. She didn’t question it though, instead heading to the elevator. The elevator doors opened and she stepped off, peering around before spotting her husband. “You’re not down smoozing the sponsors?” She questioned by way of greeting as she approached him.

Onyx had to check himself to prevent him from turning to look at his wife with surprise. Onyx had assumed that Sapphire had been chosen to volunteer, never in his wildest dreams would Onyx have imagined that Sapphire would dare volunteer out of line. “Are you kidding me? I thought she had been chosen. I don’t blame Diamond.” His eyes turned back to the Parade on the screen. “Do you think she’ll even listen to me during training?”
Diana shook her head at her husband’s statement of surprise. “Nope. She promised Di she wasn’t going to volunteer.” She frowned, still not understanding why Diamond had allowed the girl to go at all. “And Diamond made sure the Academy knew that she wasn’t supposed to be chosen either.” She pursed her lips and sighed with a shrug. “She’ll probably listen to you better than she will Emilia or I or hell even Diamond. But that’s not saying much.”
bcdblccd:
Onyx had been watching the Parade prep from the sidelines in the stables. The next morning training would start and though it may not make sense to some, Onyx was able to gather a lot from watching the Tributes prepare for the Parade. Even about Sapphire, who he had been in The Academy at the same time as. Pulled from his observing as Diana joined his side, Onyx watched the last chariot pull out of the stable and took in his wife’s murmured statement. “Her odds are better out of the gate than anyone before with there only being twelve tributes this year. If she can keep her head, I think she’ll win.” He spoke lowly back to his wife, eye watching the Parade broadcast on a tv screen in the stable.
-
“She wasn’t supposed to volunteer. Di’s pissed.” She muttered as her eyes turned to the screen broadcasting the parade for all to see. She was quiet a moment as she thought about odds for a moment. Diamond’s odds were good. She was a career. She was trained. She was a legacy. But sometimes the odds were pushed out by luck instead and something dumb would happen and someone with no training would win. “I agree, her odds are better than we’ve ever seen before. But....odds aren’t all that goes into play in there though.”
She knew Sapphire wasn’t her biggest fan, but Diana couldn’t help but ensure she was at the stables to see the girl off, though maybe her presence was more for Emilia and Diamond’s benefit than that of Sapphire or even herself. Now though, Diana had found her husband and looped her arms around his waist as the last chariot rode out of the holding stables. The chariots seemed more empty than normal this year and she supposed they were - only one per district this year. “We gotta get Saph out alive.” She murmured barely above a whisper.

Emilia sighed softly, closing the door and moving into her house further, her heart still racing just a little too fast. “Out for a jog.” She murmured, reaching to pull the ponytail holder from her hair. “Haven’t been feeling well thought the fresh air might help.” She moved towards the kitchen, reaching for a glass to fill with water. “You and Onyx helping with One this year?” The news that there would indeed be a games had been unwelcomed to say the least in the Santos house.
-
Diana raised a brow at the information her mentor and friend wasn’t feeling well. But as quickly as it’d been said, Emilia was moving on. Diana peered over the back of the couch, watching Emilia inquisitively. “Uhh, I think he’s still planning to help with training, yea.” They hadn’t really talked about it, she was just assuming. “You and Tones?”
santos-emilia:
Emilia jumped at Diana’s voice, not having seen the young woman. “Dios mío.” She huffed, smoothing her hand over the top of her head as she counted to five in her head, trying to regulate her breathing again. “Diana! You can’t just…” She stopped, sensing the tension in her own voice. “You didn’t think to let me know first?” And why hadn’t Diamond said anything before slipping back to her own home that morning?
-
Diana gave an innocent shrug as she flopped back against the couch once more. “Eh, figured a surprise would be better.” She smirked. “Where’ve you been, Emmy?”
Diana leaned up from her place perched on the Santos’ couch when she heard the door opening, smirking as she spotted Emilia’s familiar head of curls. “Hi Em!” She lifted long legs to shift feet from the coffee table to the floor. “Been wonderin’ when you were coming home! Di talked me into coming out to One and I couldn’t just not see my favorite mentor.” Letting herself into Emilia’s home had only been par for the course.

It was a month after President Snow’s funeral and Cassia’s announcement but the future of the Games was still up in the air. Diana and Onyx had discussed what they thought would happen a few times but these days they were more focused on their family.
Setting the baby monitor down on the table in between the two pool lounge chairs, Onyx grinned looking down at his wife. “The girls are all down and out.” He leaned down and pressed his lips to Diana’s.
@makeembcw
Diana was enjoying the sun - with a healthy coat of sunscreen - with the newest issue of the Capitol Chronicle in hand when Onyx joined her on the pool deck. She peaked up at him from behind dark sunglasses, smiling as she glanced at the discarded baby monitor. “Thank you.” She murmured softly, returning the kiss.
“Wanna go for a swim?” She questioned, eyes flickering to the pool despite the suggestive smirk that turned up one side of her mouth.
@makeembcw
“So, what now, Princess?” Diamond asked, slinging an arm around Diana’s waist as people began to thin following Cassia’s announcement. “You and Lover Boy have plans, or are you game for a drink or two or five before I go home tomorrow?”
Diana's gaze turned towards the other victor, quirking a brow as she did so. "Actually, Onyx has promised to make me a fabulous lobster dinner tonight." She smirked, "I can't convince you to stay another night? If not I suppose I'll have to insist on a rain check."
The funeral service had just concluded and a small number of people lingered in the Presidential Mansion, while the majority seemed to started towards the cemetery. Onyx’s hand found the small of his wife’s back as he excused the pair from the Sponsor who wouldn’t stop talking. Moving down the hallway, Onyx’s hand found Diana’s and took it into his. “Well, halfway there.” He spoked lowly.
@makeembcw
Diana was thankful when Onyx excused them from conversation and lead her away. There was only so much babbling she could take even if she was good at pretending otherwise. Leaning in closer, she offered him a small smile. "Hopefully we can be home within the next hour or two." She murmured softly.
-Welcome to the Capitol.
Abigail Cowen - twenty-one - she/her || Did you see her? I think I just saw Diana Ambre walk into the tribute tower. I’m so happy she’s back this year as a Victor/Ballerina from District One/The Capitol. She’s known as The Queen Bee because she’s so outgoing, but is sometimes gossipy.
My name is Diana Ambre and I go by Diana or Di, I’m 21 years old, and the victor of the ninty-fifth annual hunger games from District One. That was the year with the Medieval Castle Arena. My preferred pronouns are she/her, some people think I look like Abigail Cowen but I'm not convinced. I really shouldn’t be saying this but… I’m Pro-Capital of course. Just ‘cuz, I’ll let you in on a little secret: Are you kidding? Secrets have power and I don’t give anyone power over me. Like they say, “May the odds be ever in your favor”.
