What if Kirk's love of classic literature helped him understand and connect with Spock better?

We're told that Spock occasionally mispronounces or misinflectes words (most noticeable in the way he accents words ending in "or") because he grew up mainly speaking Vulcan. The original script suggested that he spoke as though he had learned English from a textbook:

"gentle manner and tone. With the almost British accent of one who has learned the language in textbooks"

We see other crewmembers get annoyed by Spock (calling him cold, mechanical etc.), and I wonder how much of this is due to his Vulcan nature VS the fact that he speaks like a textbook because that's the only form of English he learned.

Maybe Kirk, a lover of classics, doesn't interpret Spock's style of speech as cold or pretentious because he reads (and quotes!) people who talk like Spock all the time. Maybe he finds it endearing! Maybe Spock makes a comment, and Kirk thinks oh you're adorable. You're just like Mr. Darcy.
