mischaracterising has been and will stay as a BIG "problem" inside of fandoms, but I recognised it much more inside of the gravity falls fandoms particularly,Ā and I wanna talk about it because people are acting like this is a huge issue, but it isn't really an issue to a degree
Everyone knows how bill cipher is usually depicted as a horny ass triangle and just being a very hypersexual character in general n stuff, but definitely in my eyes FIDDLEFORD IS THE BIGGEST CULPRIT. This man gets depicted like he is some gaylord, he is basically depicted as the usual "gay" stereotype (and this probably is because we didn't get too much content of young fiddeford, so it's much harder for people do decipher how his character really works and how he'd act, we got like 3 minutes in total in the show of young fiddleford..) and I get it, I'm not necessarily saying that type of character is necessarily bad, but what I am saying that it is not fiddleford.
Fiddleford is the most texas character ever, he plays the banjo, he has the accent, he has EVERYTHING, and he probably smells like sweat and butter and definitely does not care about his hygiene (stanford and dipper aren't the only ones who smell like shit at the end of the day). I'm not saying he's not gay (I definitely do see that side of him, I mean fiddlestan has taken over my brain for a reason) but he isn't that usual gay stereotype people keep on drawing or depicting him as.
But hear me out. I do not care, my main intention with this post is that yes I personally don't see him as that but if you do, ITS FINE, THESE ARE PIXELS, PEOPLE CAN DEPICT PIXELS AS WHATEVER THEY WANT TO (unless it's harmful, you disgusting rag). People can depict characters differently, and that's the best part, seeing how people view characters differently, and the fact on how people are acting like it's "harmful" is the thing we should be talking about, people should stop hating on others for depicting characters differently. Period.
